Meet the New Handbag Brand That Took NYFW By Storm

You'll want to keep an eye out for Khaite Luggage come fall

New York Fashion Week has changed a lot since it left its home at ‘the tents.’ While many designers are flipping the script on NYFW, moving away from runway shows, one designer in particular embraced the traditional way of showing off its newest collection. Designer Catherine Holstein of RTW brand Khaite, hosted a runway show for the first time since Khaite’s debut collection in 2016.

This season, Khaite has introduced a line of bags which will debut this coming Fall. Called Khatie Luggage, the bags are a refreshing step away from what most brands are doing. In the ‘instagam age’ many brands have embraced logos and adopted a ‘more is more’ mentality, while Khaite has chosen to stay true to its clean, feminine aesthetic.

Khaite luggage includes delicate frame bags, super-soft totes, and sleek crossbody pouches. The bags look incredibly well made and are priced reasonably as well. According to Vogue Runway, the line will start at $880. See more from the collection below and connect with Khaite on Instagram to keep up to date on the official launch of Khaite Luggage.

These doesn’t look like anything special, which is a nice change indeed. But I don’t see what motivates this kind of price tag for a “no name” brand?

Does random upcoming companies just give their items these kind of prices in hopes of people perceiving them as high end?

Yes! Price points are everything, when entering a market. It’s all about perception! If she asked any less, her wares would be perceived as being more like Furla, Kate Spade, & Coach. She priced herself well, in the middle range of $500 & up; think affordable luxury for the 30 something professional working woman. I think her line looks sophisticated with their unique shapes & rich leather! I especially lile 5-12. Coming off highly embellished, & tiny sized bags that cost alot, but are really impractical, hers are refreshing, I think.?

Jame

Yes, and the details aren’t even luxe. It is a simple shape, no hardware and cloth lining….. I see nothing here worth that price tag.

Darietta

It really feels like it…unfortunately

Master Green

Looks like every other lux brand these days: nice leather at least the pics), simple shapes (it must be totes season), and a small (but noticeable enough) logo or name brand printed on it… NOTHING NEW!

Tana

The Row + Phoebe’s Celine.

Sparky

and the point is…?

Kristen

very old celine vibes…

I’ve been drooling over these since last week. Really happy to see that Vogue did an editorial on the bags because I had only seen a few on Instagram and didn’t have many details on the brand or its offerings.

FYI these are available to pre-order on KHAITE’s site for the next 2.5 weeks. They do require a full payment up front, however. That was one of the reasons I decided not to pre-order one. Most sites, like MO, only require an initial deposit and then will charge the rest upon shipment. It’s a bit unrealistic to pay $2,600 for something that won’t come until September, IMO.

Polkadotbird

That is a bit much to ask!

Uhmmm…. they look like a T-shirt. What is going on here??? NURSE!!

ceebee_eebee

I wasn’t feeling anything until I got to slide 12 and now…they’ve got my attention.

Canuck65

They don’t seem very practical

Kenzie

Khaite reminds me of “kite,” which is hilarious cuz they look like deflated kites!

Kweenhelene

I was thinking the same thing! Nothing special about these shapes.

The first photo is case-and-point! ?

I like bag 6, but these are doing nothing for me. Most of these remind me of Celine. Not a fan of that brand either. Bags 8-10 look like extra large Boogie Bags.

anonymouspeeps

1-5 look like…Gandalf’s hat. 🙂

I like the minimalist design of some (especially the first), but they don’t look like something I’d want to wear/carry, not elegant on your body.

Now that is a superb & glorious line-up on big bags (& a few small)! So lux & clean cut! I especially like 5-12! So….I took a peek on her Instagram Account, wow! I love the effortless, clean lines of her clothes, made with luxurious fabrics! All basic, live-in pieces that would be absolute staples in your wardrobe. I have never heard of her until now. I feel woefully out of touch, here. A few years back, I finally decided to cancel my 23 year long subscription to INSTYLE magazine. I just felt like as a 50 yr old, I should move on from a 20 something’s fashion rag. I’ve got my own personal style nailed down now. Besides, there’s always Pinterest to keep you up to date! I must say, this designers wares sure look enticing! Thanks for sharing her designs with us! ??
