In my mind, the use of colored leather to contrast with monogram canvas is the most notable thing that’s happened to Louis Vuitton‘s bag collection as a whole since Nicolas Ghesquiere succeeded Marc Jacobs as creative director. Before that, the leather used in women’s monogram bags was ivory vachetta, with few exceptions, and the willingness to explore other accent colors immediately put Ghesquiere’s stamp on one of the brand’s signatures and made monogram feel freshly updated for the next phase in its history. For Fall 2018, Louis Vuitton is continuing the look with a series of bags featuring sleek leather stripes.
The collection includes both new and old classics from the Alma to Neonoe, as well as some of the brand’s popular day bags that don’t have name recognition that’s quite as wide as the brand’s most famous pieces. The bodies of the bags are either Epi leather or monogram, and the doubled, down-the-middle stripes come in two combinations: navy and red or red and pink. Those pairings give the bags a crisp, preppy quality, which is especially welcome on the monogram bags, which can tend toward flashiness.
The Epi bags, meanwhile, have sort of a race care feel to them, but in a retro way that’s not too intrusively sporty. Overall, these bags made me surprised that we’ve never see Louis Vuitton do something like this before (with the exception of Mon Monogram, which offers customizable painted stripes), because the striping feels like a natural addition to both the logo print and the solid-color leather.
Check out the bags currently available from this line below; some of them are available from immediate purchase from the website, while others will require a call to LV customer service to locate them in a store and ship.
Sorry, but this really seems like a copy of Gucci’s red and green stripes. On the Alma I find it quite ugly.
not just seems like a copy – it IS a copy!!
Totally agree and that’s my first impression when I see them on LV’s online.
Like VA, LV copy the ideas time to time. Hate those bags and crazy price.
I agree
The #5 Georges BB is wonderful! Will definitely be checking this out at the boutique.
hideous to okay
I am not a fan of any of these purses but do love a few from the Resort 2019 Collection and can’t wait for those to be released!
I agree with the points other members have made if you take away the monogram these bags could be Gucci bags.

No.9 is my dream Petite Malle!!!!! If only I have money tree!!!!!
What Daria said. More expensive and not the classic, elegant look of yore. 🙁
Does anyone else get the impression that Louis Vuitton is trying really hard to mix anything with everything hoping for the next it bag? It’s getting confusing now keeping up with all these variations upon variations. How about something fresh for a change..
Absolutely agree with so many of the comments already. Would not jump after one.
LV needs some new designers. These are not the innovation I expect from them.
So glad to see them moving away quite a bit from the untreated vachetta leather handles. As a hand cream junkie, those just did not work for me!
These don’t seem to be well-received here, but I’m into it. I love LV’s monogram, I love stripes, and I like them together. I’ll take one of each, please. (And I totally see what everyone means about these resembling Gucci. I wouldn’t spend actual money on Gucci, though, so I would rather buy one of these to quench my thirst for stripes.)
Some of these seem to fit well with the spirit of the World Cup “le bleu france” LOL…
Have the Georges BB with pink red stripe. It’s so cute. I have 2 Chanel coco handles and not the same at all. I do not see Gucci here as many are saying.
LV customer service sucks and worst of all luxe brands, but the bags are lightweight, easy to carry on the daily, and that’s the only reason I still shop them.
