Introducing Marni’s Spring 2019 Bags

We fell in love and you will too

When people ask me what I do for a living one of the first questions they typically ask is either “what’s your favorite designer?” or “what bag do you want to buy right now?” It’s really, really difficult for me to pick ONE favorite designer, as there are just too many to pick from. Not to mention, of the designers I personally own, I like each one for different reasons. Then there are those designers that I really love and admire, but haven’t yet been able to add to my collection. Marni falls into that category.

Currently, Marni is not only high on my list of favorites, but a Marni bag would also be my answer to the second question. I cannot stop crushing on Marni and many of you seem to agree. I couldn’t help but indulge in this fantasy a bit further and as promised, we finally got our hands on a couple of bags to review for you all. We had so much fun taking them out for a little spring spin, and we’re crushing hard!

Marni’s bags are beautiful in that they are simple but unique, and that’s exactly the vibe of the Marni Cachè Two-Tone Leather Bag. With its sleek gold frame and bracelet like handle, this bag is beautiful at first glance. Upon a further look, it’s not only different from other bags trending right now, but it’s incredibly well made. It is a classic shape that instantly transforms any outfit and though the shape differs from anything I currently own, I fell in love with it instantly.

The chic silhouette is timeless, and I adore that it can be carried a few different ways. It looks sleek and classy tucked under your arm but for more practical use, it fits nicely worn over the shoulder as well. It features two compartments in contrasting colors with golden brass hardware. I love that it has two color options and can be flipped depending on your outfit—or mood!

Made in Italy from sturdy glossy calf leather, the bag features a rivet snap closure and is lined in leather. Inside, there is a zippered pocket as well as a slit pocket. For those looking for a pretty, but subtle, pop of color the Marni Cachè Two-Tone Leather Bag comes in baby pink and baby yellow. For those who prefer to stick to neutrals, a more classic version is also offered in white with contrasting nude.

This piece, though pricey, is like a work of art and is definitely a classic investment piece that will remain in your closet for years to come. The bag’s overall dimensions are 11.6″ W x 8.2″ H x 2.3″ D. One downside is that you really cannot overfill the bag as it then becomes too bulky and loses its sleek shape. Pre-order for $4,200 via Moda Operandi.

For a roomier day bag that’s equally as sleek you might want to opt for the Marni Squared Snap Link Grip Small Leather Tote. This is the little tote that could. When we first took the sample out it was folded up sort of like you would fold a brown paper bag, but it holds a decent amount of goodies. It’s large enough to hold a small water bottle standing up inside, among other things. The pretty pastel pink hue is the perfect addition to your spring wardrobe, and like the Cachè bag, this tote is seriously chic. The minimalist silhouette features clean lines making the overall style of the bag incredibly crisp and classic.

This little Marni Tote is also crafted of quality materials, and it’s the little details that make all of the difference. The handles are hooked on with gold-toned metal snap links that are etched with ‘Marni’. The leather on this bag is a bit more delicate and appears to scratch easily, which is important to note. Inside, the bag is lined in suede and there is an interior magnetic snap closure. The bag can be hand carried via the top handles or worn over the shoulder with the adjustable, and completely removable, shoulder strap! Overall dimensions of the Marni Grip Small Tote are 9.75″ W x 8.75″ H x 6.5″ D. Purchase via Bloomingdales for $2,590.

Not for me. They have an old lady look.

LOVE Them! So classic. I’d love to see them up close. In a bag that simple finishing is everything.

Cat

First bag is cute. Looks like a Chloe Faye but adds a ladylike spin which is nice. Second bag is a bit basic.

Samantha

Well, the day I want to carry around a few envelopes and nothing more is the day I buy the Marni Cache bag. Cute but super impractical in my opinion.

Chloe

Super expensive to carry a few envelopes. 🙂

Samantha

Lol so true 🙂

I like vintage/retro styles. But, this is not working for me. Instead of being cool and vintage/retro, it’s giving me little old lady vibes.

Master Green

I love Marni.

Mizantrop

Lovely. Impractical. Expensive. 😉

Bryan Lepe

I hate when totes are made with super delicate leather. It defeats the purpose of a tote :l

chae

for $2400 maybe. for $4200 definitely no.

Rose

Your price point is spot on!

Koko Belle

Maybe for $420 if I was looking for something kind of quirky. I don’t pay $4200 for whimsy.

Sparky

Wow, I didn’t notice the price. I’m getting fed up with this “me too” pricing. It’s as if all the brands use the Big Three as a pricing model. What? If Chanel now hovers near $6000 that means the customer will perceive ANY $4500 bag as a bargain? We’re not stupid.

Tjuff

The first one looks very much like the Celine clasp bag by Phoebe Philo! I love the style but don’t like that all these big brands copy each other so much! 🙁

Vicky

If you want to do a review, perhaps putting a realistic things in the bag will make it more real. I like Marni and I love my trunk dearly, but I don’t think I will pay this new price.
