Good photo, love B&W. It’s got a moody, late afternoon feeling of people resting after too much sun. Final comment: smokers are so unattractive, I am surprised there are still so many around.
Smoking looks so wimpy and dependent – birkin or not, its a sorry picture.
My favorite part of the picture is the little dog peeking out from the second woman’s lap.
As far as smokers go, I try not to be too judgmental – we all have our vices.
Great picture…..great purse……REAL people
What an amazing picture
The Birkin obviously belongs to the dog lady. The smoker is working on her frustration.
Great shot, love the black and white. I know everyone has their vices, but personally, I wouldn’t subject my dog or my bag to the secondhand smoke!
I agree….awesome picture showcasing a day in the life of a real person. I agree that some need to pause before being so judgmental – some people smoke, some people by expensive handbags – guarantee there are those who think that BOTH habits are disgusting. lol
Again….beautiful photo!
I love that you did the picture in black and white. It shows women with two addictions-one smoking and one handbag. The photo looks both vinatge and modern all at the same time.
perfect just perfect i love it im a hobby photo maniac and this is divine congrats
very nice shot.. DOF pretty much shows what the main focus is.. wish she turned the bag around though but nice capture nonetheless..
Cool picture, but the smoking is disgusting.
Love the photo, awesome shot and lovely bag! what is up with all the hostility? so what if the lady is smoking, god what is with all the judgement???? its not like shes killing other people except herself maybe. I think people shouldnt leave comments like that.
>>its not like shes killing other people except herself maybe.
i guess you have not heard that second hand smoke DOES kill!!!
I agree with you too. Art can be portrayed in many many ways and nothing should be taboo. Those that dont like it dont have to view it.
Love this!! All of life’s little pleasures in one pic, bags, cigs, puppies, cocktails and al fresca lunching.
I agree wholeheartedly.
me too totally agree…but reverse order…Dogs, Bags, Lunching, Cocktails and Cigs at the end.
That dog is adorable, and the black and white really captures this image.
On ne discute ni des goûts, ni des couleurs.
All of life’s pleasures – cigarettes, handbags, expensive watch, sunshine, puppy … whatever you prefer.
Gorgeous pic!!! I see alcohol on the table but no one made a comment, which is also a disgusting habit!!!
Love the Birkin!
I love this picture.
I love this photo!
You sure have an eye for a controversial photo! Love the dog. Love the bag! Love the photo!
Wow, I am surprised at the amount of negativity here. I’m pretty sure, reading the Purse Blog is my guilty pleasure, and yours….Smoking may be hers. I think the point was the beautiful bag, and it was not posted to illicit such negative comments. But whatever. As a smoker, I realize I am in the minority, but it isn’t for you to judge.
I totally agree with you, I think the outrage over a grown woman having a cigarette outside if she wants one is just a bit much. I’m not a smoker, but I can’t imagine why simply seeing a smoker would make people all rage-y. We all do things that annoy others – that’s part of living with people. *shrug*
I must say, I respectfully disagree. This isn’t a site with content intended to appeal to children, and it’s not our obligation to parent anyone’s kids. That’s why I don’t have them, because I doubt I would do that good of a job. But if this is the worst thing that a kid sees online in any given day, her parents should count themselves lucky. I’m young enough to have grown up with the Internet in my home and in the homes of my friends, and I can say that with 100% confidence. Parents and society at large shouldn’t expect that all content coming from all sources will be created in order to nurture children. If that was the case, there would be very little art or culture to speak of.
I’m not upset that a lady smokes, as you said Amanda we all have our vices. But for a respected online journal, with a lot of teen followers it’s a little irresponsible to put something so bad for you with something so out of reach for many that come here. I was quite surprised to see this photo here, because it appears to be a glamorization (albeit I’m sure unintentional) of smoking. For this very reason smoking ads have been removed from much of the marketing media that we are exposed to, because they simply promote smoking. I am not at all surprised that this topic is touchy.
We love the photo! There is much more negativity than we expected, but we appreciate all the comments 🙂
I quit smoking 7 years, 2 weeks ago. Still want one. Picture’s fine–criminy, at least it doesn’t show skinning the animal to make the bag.
Since the lady with the ciggie is sans Birkin, maybe the message of the pic is that if you smoke, you won’t have a Birkin or a puppy, for that matter, lol. So, it’s really a message to kids to not smoke!
I agree with mochababe…we all have our addictions. Although smoking is not one of mine, I do love Hermes. Great pic! I think I recognize what restaurant that is too. Makes me want to take a road trip.
Love the picture! Makes me a little homesick. From South Florida but no longer live there. Smoke if you want just don’t blow your smoke on my dog:-) Really love the Birkin!
Looks like they had a great day…
That bag should NOT be subjected to second-hand smoke!!!
True that smoking is not for anyone to judge. I don’t judge my smoking friends–as long as they keep their smoking to private. Anyhow, even the grade-one kid knows that smoking is bad. So, it’s not surprising to see a lot of negative comments towards ‘smoking’.
This photo was definitely intentionally taken to raise such a controversial debate.
Fab picture – B & W makes everything so sharp…
I PREFER MY CIGS WITH A KELLY
smoking gives you wrinkles than no one will care about your birkin or your kelly because your dog face will be in the way …eeeek
SMOKING KILLS
a man enjoying his cigg
a lady all into her text mess or internet business..
a hermes baskin in the sun/shade
while both of them chillaxing with a corona ..
priceless hahah

Dude looks like a lady! That’s not a man smoking, it’s a woman wearing a 3/4 length sleeve blouse – and leave her alone you health fascists. She can smoke if she damn well pleases. (No, I am not a smoker but I believe people who pay for them and are paying multiple taxes for cigarettes should be given the right to smoke them). BTW, isnt the bag great?
The bag is amazing and frankly, she can do what she pleases. She paid for the smokes and the bag too I’m sure. Hopefully it was a gift lol
fantastic picture, vlad! Props to you (fb)
the pic is gorgeous. Comments? Ridiculous! I agree with the poster who commented about the alcohol on the table. And for the one who mentioned that teens read tPF & the idea that this pic “glamorizes” smoking, well there’s a lot of swearing and talk about alcohol here on tPF (I know several tPFers who regularly “get together for a drink over chat”!) and I don’t see anyone complaining about that! It’s not a PSA, it’s a pic/art and I think it’s fantastic!! (fb)
ignoring the smoking issue… iconic bag, beautiful photo (fb)
smoking irrelevant, bag …love it!
nice nice (fb)
Social status = Status symbol 🙂 – (fb)

AMAZING PHOTO!!!
A Birkin and cigarettes don’t go together. I feel sorry for the poor Birkin being neglected in the hot sun!…I’d be a way better mom.
