The Christian Dior Diorama Bag Has Arrived in Stores

A lot of great things have happened to Dior’s accessories line under the leadership of Raf Simons and his creative team, and now there’s one more that bag shoppers can add to the list: the Christian Dior Diorama Bag, which officially launched in boutiques in mid-March as part of its debut with the Spring 2015 collection. Below, we’ve got a look at over two dozen versions of the bag that are available right now.

The design is a compact flap shoulder bag with a part-leather, part-chain strap that’s adjustable for different types of wear. The bag fills a spot in the brand’s lineup similar to the one the Boy Bag filled for Chanel–an easy-to-wear marquee design that appeals to young, trend-conscious consumers who might find the brand’s other bags too ladylike.

Most of the bags feature piped trim in an oversized version of the brand’s signature Cannage pattern, but a few lack both it and the shield-shaped front closure. The initial run of the design includes both smooth and grained leathers, as well as prints, embroidery, python and crocodile, plus two sizes: small and medium. Prices start at $3,000 for the small version in leather and top out at $34,000 for the medium in crocodile.

I actually like the Diorama better than the Boy. It has a great minimalistic esthetic. Besides I find the Boy becoming ridiculously more expensive every year than what can be justified.

Laura Hess

I die. Love this in the black and silver hw combo.

JM

Gorgeous!

sasfangirl21

I can’t get over the fact that the Diorama just looks like a blatant ripoff of the Boy Bag.

O.A

Just Beautiful Beautiful! I need several 🙂

_petitprince_

gorgeous bag! but sadly living in the shadow of the boy bag:(

AD

I saw them at the Boston Copley store yesterday and I thought the same thing- Boy Bag wanna be. It’s a shame. I would love to add a Dior to my collection. I love the history of the brand. But none of their bags really speaks to me.

Lori

That clasp…I can’t get past it. I just don’t like it. And I agree, too close to the boy bags.

Laura

Yes, that clasp. It ruins the entire bag. If I wouldn’t know the Boy bag, I maybe could like the Diorama much better, but so it is really just a ripoff of the Boy.

yinkus

think I’m gonna wait and see if this becomes a classic, can only afford to invest in bags I can still confidently carry in 5-10 years, still regretting my alexander wang rocco choices.

Amanda

Come on Dior, these are pretty but its like almost chanel boy

iszn

Yes, it looks like a Chanel Boy Bag. The leather doesn’t scream luxury in the picture..have to see bag in real life.

Liliali

Love the boy Chanel wayyy better

Cheddy

Definitely won’t pay such a premium for a boy wanna be

Sparkletastic

I love some of the inventiveness in patterns.

However, as several others have said, I’m surprised how much this looks like the Chanel boy. I wish they had pushed this a bit harder so that it had its own unique personality.

I am sorry to say the lines are too clean for my liking; almost clinical. Saw it on a lady coming down an escalator after she purchased it . She was dressy and yet the bag feels like it is somewhat wrong, trying to be ladylike when it is probably more coll. Yet with denim, it is soo wrong. I cannot put my pulse on it. This cannot be said of the boy bag which looks good dressed up or down. Shockingly or pehaps not, I have teamed many of my casual looks with the Lady Dior and it works! So if people are saying it is too prissy….

Liza

Why does every House feel the need to copy the Boy Bag? Fail.

Liza

I’d rather stick to their Lady Diors. Stunning.

Khaya

Very Chanel Boy…probably won’t be adding one of these to my collection…I love the Lady Dior though! Much more unique 🙂

Newyorking

It is a rip-off of the Chanel boy bag, but it is so much better. All Chanel does is quilted bags, nothing more, nothing stands out, not even different hardware. At least Dior has more colors, different styles and colors, and attractive hardware, much more attractive than Chanel. I just wish Dior had gone a bit more different so as not to seem like such a rip-off of Chanel boy bag. A little more difference in shape or style.

A

What are you on about? Do you even know what Chanel is? Their boy bags come in a variety of fabrics, designs, colors and prints and are not only quilted like you say.

Aforallie

I love these!

Pretty buut

Really cute, but too much like Chanel Boy. Oh well. Bayswater and Sac de jour look like Hermes design and soooo many others look like Celine Luggage/Phantom. Humph.

Denise

Love the slide #5.
