An Exclusive Look at Dior’s Cool ABCDior NYC Pop-Up

We visited Dior's SoHo space to get the scoop

Dior released its iconic Book Tote three years ago this spring, and it became an instant hit. Soon after, VIPs and celebrities were spotted toting personalized versions around town, and handbag lovers wanted to know how they could get their hands on one. At the time, the service wasn’t available to the public, but because it was so well embraced, Dior soon offered personalizations within its boutiques, allowing customers to make a bag completely their own.

Now, Dior is offering the exclusive ABCDior personalization service at a brand new pop-up located in New York City’s famed SoHo shopping district and they invited us to take a look inside. Located on quiet Greene Street next to the brand’s permanent boutiques, the ABCDior pop-up space is small and intimate, allowing the customer a 360 shopping experience, where would-be buyers can not only explore the service, but fully simulate a potential purchase as well.

The pop-up boutique is dedicated exclusively to the ABCDior service, which celebrates the art of personal style, allowing an individual to customize a range of Dior products from sneakers and vanity cases to bags and even Dior’s iconic J’Adior slingbacks. Shoppers can get inspired by the walls that line the boutique, which feature a look at the many bags there are to choose from. Book Totes, Lady Diors, Diorcamp Bags and more in various sizes and prints immerse clients into the creative world of ABCDior. The space itself is cozy and welcoming, but the standout element lies in the middle of the space—a large touch-screen display that allows clients to bring an idea to life, fully visualizing what their final product will look like.

Personalization is available on key House motifs, such as Dior Oblique and Toile de Jouy as well as seasonal variations of the Maison’s icons. Depending on the style chosen, the amount of characters you can fit varies, and clients can pick from just lettering or lettering with symbols as well. The Large Dior Book tote offers the most room and in turn the most options, while the Saddle Bag and the Lady Dior can fit less characters. The most exciting part of the pop-up is that you can order your personalized item and pick it up within 3-4 days as the embroidering is done on site. Typically the ABCDior lead time is a lot longer making the pop-up perfect for those who need a gift on the go or for someone who’s a see it, want it, need it now kind of shopper.

Discover more below or visit the ABCDior pop-up boutique at 109 Greene Street in New York City, now through May 21st.

Is there a charge for this personalization service? Do they accept phone orders or is it in house only? I like this concept and glad it’s available to the public. Thx!

I reached out to Dior to confirm – the boutique does take orders over the phone and uses a pay by link service for those orders. The upcharge is between $130 USD (for SLGs) to $250 USD (for handbags) for the service. Hope this helps!

That’s surprisingly cheap!

Naomi

Yes, thank you!

I feel that we use the word “iconic” way too easily these days. ???

Who ever thought my Nona’s old sofa pillows would become so niche chic!
Pretty embroidery but definitely not something I personally could carry around . Diorama, Lady Dior and jewelry have my heart

I wish they had a way to customize the giant naming in the middle *away*. When I first saw them I thought that’s what it was – says whatever name you put (I think I’d seen Ciara) instead of CHRISTIAN DIOR on the same spot. I’d pay $250 for that in a heartbeat.

It’s not that I’m embarrassed to be wearing Dior LOL but it’s obvious enough already from the bag itself, why do I also need to have THAT big a text on me with their name?
