Coach is America’s biggest homegrown accessories brand, not to mention arguably the world’s most important contemporary handbag brand, so we always pay attention when there’s a new Coach collection to see. That’s especially true since creative director Stuart Vevers launched Coach 1941, the company’s more fashion-forward and luxurious offshoot, and the Coach 1941 Fall 2016 collection, which just launched on Coach.com, demonstrates exactly why.
The collection, which includes ready-to-wear, outerwear and shoes, in addition to the brand’s signature bags and leather goods, has notes of the American West, one of Vevers’s favorite references during his time at Coach. That influence makes itself visible in the collection’s earthy color palette and traditionally Southwestern studding and embroidery. All of that is balanced with more whimsical notes, though, including a very cute illustrated dinosaur named Rexy.
There’s a lot to enjoy in the collection, but we whittled our picks down to a cool dozen to get you started. Check out our favorites below or shop the full collection at Coach.com!
Sadly, not a fan of any of the bags but I do think the wallet is nice and the trench and shearling are okay.
I’ve been loving Coach lately, so it’s a shame to see them almost copying Chloé on the turnlock bags.
Coach was founded in 1941; Chloe was founded in 1952. Coach’s iconic turnlock was inspired by the turnlock on Bonnie Cashin’s convertible and has been a Coach trademark since the early 1960s. Many designers draw inspiration from others and I don’t see anything wrong with that. However, if you are going to accuse Coach of “copying” Chloe on a part of their bags that has been an integral part of their company for over 50 years, I do have a problem with that. I think Coach is doing some exciting things under Vevers and Chloe is going well
Cont’d
Chloe is going well, why throw shade on Coach? There is plenty of room for every designer to showcase their style and for those who love them to decide what they want to carry.
I’m talking about slides 4 and 7. I should’ve been more clear. Of course the turnlock has been a Coach signature. I was merely speaking on the chain that connects to the turnlock, which is something Chloé has done on their Faye and Drew bags, 529 bags which have been extremely popular lately. I’m not “throwing shade” at Coach. It’s an obvious trait that’s been copied from two of the most popular handbags right now.
Ok I get your meaning now. But it still does speak to what I mentioned. Almost, I say almost, everyone borrows inspiration from other designers and it is usually the mid luxury bags as they offer similar styles to higher end designers for a less prohibitive price point. And to be honest and not to “throw shade” on my beloved Coach, but if they were going to draw inspiration from Chloe, they could have picked a more practical feature to replicate. Just saying…
I’m not sure why you’re being so defensive about this, but you do you.
coach is back with a bang, bravo! gone is the ugly C monogram BS
These are amazing. So glad they pulled it together. I hated the past few years and that weird horse and buggy logo!
Too much of everything. Busy. Busy. Busy. Especially bag #4. Who is Coach’s customer now? To whom are they appealing?
Gotta admit I’ve been lusting after a large Coach Dinky and Saddle bag since last season. I am VERY impressed with their new designs. Seems a lot more retailers are carrying them too, including some overseas.
The embellished bags remind me of Fossil bags to be honest.
I ADORE the new Rogue bags! So many stunning ones to choose from <3
Why do these over embellished bags scream Isabella Fiore? Dated and distracting IMO.
love their new style! Especially the dino stuff! <3
