Against perhaps my better judgment, I really like the Alexander Wang Jena Laser-Cut Leather Clutch. And I mean, I like, REALLY like it. The shape is a bit odd and I typically stay away from oddly shaped bags. Don’t ask me why, it’s just what I do. Yet, this clutch, this adorable, edgy and versatile clutch has captured my attention and I’ve not been able to get out of its hold since.
The envelope clutch is brown laser-cut ridged leather. While I’ve been a fan of envelope clutches for a while now, this one is unique and stands out in comparison to others. I always give points to uniqueness. As you can see, there is two silver-tone zip fastenings at the front, a fold-over flap with a magnetic and zip fastening under the flap. I think the thing I like the most about this clutch is that it can be paired with a casual outfit just as well as slightly more fancy outfit. And there’s always something appealing about a handbag that you most likely won’t see the person next to you carrying. But, what do you think – what are the pros/cons to this clutch? Buy through Net-a-Porter for $525.
I was drawn to it myself but could not yet justify the price tag for something I haven’t seen close up or real life photos of. I must admit I really like it too without knowing exactly why. Could be the double zipping, the simplicity and that it just WORKS!
It looks so squashy!
I saw pictures somewhere last night of a girl holding the regular black version and they made me love it even more than I already did. It’s very substantial in size – I could see it easily as a day-to-night clutch. I think it’s great for less than $500. I’ll post a link to the photos if I can find them again.
the design is amazing and the zippers do the whole thing
Well, I simply like envelop clutches! Perhaps, the genius here which gives this clutch a enticing look is by mixing a great silhouette with a neat functional treatment. The exposed zippers give a great spin to this style. I dig how the zipper overlays make you think the zipper tape is exposed when indeed it is not! Great twist on a continually salable style.
this version is velvet leather which is why it’s $525. the regular leather version (in black with gold-tone hardware) is $475 on shopbop. i think this is a uniquely beautiful clutch! i love that alexander wang is totally pushing the envelope (no pun intended) on this clutch and all the other handbags that he designs.
I totally agree with everyone i really like it and i cant figure out why. I also cant seem to decide if i should get it or not….Amanda more pics pls??? and of the black one if you can?
Here we go, found it! Satine’s product photo is someone holding the bag, so you get a good idea of how big it is: http://www.satineboutique.com/index.php/alexander-wang-black-velvet-jenna-clutch.html
Very much a statement clutch. I think I’m probably going to end up getting this.
so what exactly is velvet leather? Is it like suede?
I don’t think it’s suede. I have a Coach bag (from the 1990’s) with almost exact leather and it was called (Sonoma) nubuc leather.
This post reminded me of the Coach nubuc leather and I went and dug it up from storage and it sure looked so alike in material.
Oh…very nice! I love it…but I really think I’m going to save up for the new hobo in brown…
I have a vintage, black patent envelope clutch, and I love it. I wear it anytime my husband takes me somewhere fancy without the children.
I like this clutch, but I don’t like the zippers. They’re just weird. I can’t quite put my finger on it.
lmao “EDGY” go fu*k yourself
It looks dowdy and not at all edgy. (ipad)
