CC 273: The Parisian in the 305

"I have more Hermès and more fun colors since I live in Miami"

CC 273

Today, we’re back with a fresh installment of Closet Confessionals. CC 273’s journey began over two decades ago in Paris with a Mini Dior Saddle bag. Today, CC 273 resides in Miami, and while she favors quiet luxury bags and loves Hermès, living in Miami means her bags are louder and more fun.

This collector doesn’t set aside a budget for her bags, and is lucky enough to be a stay-at-home mom. She states that since the birth of her son, she’s started to favor smaller bags like the Mini Kelly and Fendi Baguette.

Onto The Bags

How many bags do you own? Way too much to count

What bags are in your collection? I have a lot of Chanel. Birkin 25 is my favorite, but since I had a baby, I’m more into easy bags like Mini Kelly and Fendi Baguette.

CC 273 Bags

How much is your collection worth? No clue sorry. I also hate the trend of thinking that a bag is an investment. It’s just fashion accessories for me.

What is your most expensive bag? Birkin 25 or a Crystal Chanel.

Do you ever experience buyer’s remorse after purchasing a bag? If so, how do you deal with it? Yes. A few times but I used to think a lot about something expensive before buying it.

Do you feel a desire to downsize your collection? If so, what factors are driving that decision? Yes. I don’t have enough space and at a point I want to have less items in my closet. Too many are stressing me out.

What age did you get your first designer bag, and what was it? I was 16. It was a mini Dior Saddle bag with the blue logo. Loved it.

Is there a specific bag you are looking to purchase next? Another Birkin, Cantaloupe Mini Kelly, maybe a Kelly Pochette.

Do you have a ‘holy grail’ dream bag you’ve always wanted to own? Croco Diamond, but I would never put that much money in a bag. The Kelly Croco Midas is crazy, too.

Any particular bag that holds a special sentimental value? My son’s backpack. It’s a green dinosaur face. So cute.

Do you feel like your bags change people’s perceptions of you or how you’re treated? Yes of course and this is so sad!

How do you take care of your bags? I try my best to take care of everything in general but I’m not a freak. There is no issue for me if I have no choice but to put a Birkin on the ground.

On Shopping

How often do you buy new bags? Multiple times a year. Most of them are bought before vacations.

How has your bag collection changed during the past few years, and why? I have more Hermès and more fun colors since I live in Miami (I used to live in Paris).

Do you prefer shopping for bags online or in-store? Why? Online but some bags are in store only.

Which stores do you frequent the most? Hermès and Chanel

Have you ever returned a bag after purchasing it? Why did you make that decision? No. If you’re not sure don’t buy!

Do you ever buy second-hand bags? Where do you buy used? Never. I don’t like my stuff to be touched by someone else.

Do you ever donate or gift your old bags? If so, to whom? No. I resale some even if I have to admit that the prices increasing for secondhand are a myth.

Do you feel that social media or influencer culture pressures you to buy more bags or certain brands? No, but sometimes I see some styles that I like.

Do you consider your bag purchases financial or emotional investments? Absolutely not!! IMO it’s ridiculous to think that!

Do you follow the latest fashion trends when deciding on your next purchase, or do you prefer classic styles? I don’t necessarily like classic styles and I think we all kind of follow trends more or less as we buy what’s in store, so what’s trendy.

Are sales associate relationships instrumental to your shopping? No but they definitely help finding items I like.

Do you enjoy shopping beyond just acquiring something new? Yes. Sometimes I don’t even buy but I enjoy the ride as long it’s a short one.

Have you ever felt you received inferior service at a store or boutique due to your appearance, ethnicity, or gender? I didn’t feel it was because of this or that but yes, some places or SA’s are less nice than others.

What factors may dissuade you from buying a bag, even if you like it? The price or a silly way to buy it (like quotas at Hermès – this is a shame).

Is there a brand you outright refuse to buy? Why? I don’t have one but there are some brands I don’t like.

Do you ever rent designer bags? If so, from where? No.

How do you feel about the concept of “quiet luxury” vs. “loud luxury”? I love quiet luxury. Loud luxury can be fun though but on a daily basis I am more into QL.

On Budgeting & Perceptions

Who pays for your bags? My husband as I don’t work. They can be gifts from my family as well.

Do you set aside a budget for your bag purchases? No.

Have you ever purchased a counterfeit because you couldn’t afford a designer item? Absolutely not. I understand the concept, but I don’t get it.

Do you use financing or payment plans (like Afterpay or Klarna) for bag purchases? Omg please don’t!!

Do you think owning luxury bags helps you in professional or social situations? How so? People (not the best) think you value more if you have a expensive bag. That helps figuring out who you can be close with or not.

Do you ever hide purchases from your significant other? Have you ever lied about the cost of a bag to avoid judgment? No. A healthy relationship is about trust. If you have to hide something, think about your life choices.

Do you ever resell bags on platforms like The RealReal, Fashionphile, or Vestiaire Collective? Yes

Have your friends or family ever criticized your bag-buying habits? If so, how did you respond? No

Do you think your shopping is ever a problem? Have you ever felt like you were struggling with a shopping addiction? No

Let’s get personal…

What is your greatest extravagance? Not working and having a baby going to preschool. Lol

What is your greatest fear? Unhealthy family.

What is the trait you most admire in others? Being social.

Which living person do you most admire? My husband.

What or who is the greatest love of your life? My husband and my son.

What is your favorite journey you have taken so far? Leaving Paris for Miami.

What is your idea of perfect happiness? My husband, my son, and I on a beach
