One of the most pertinent questions regarding bags is what exactly fits inside. Unless you are picking a novelty bag, knowing full well that it isn’t very practical and that it is okay for the event you are carrying it to, the primary purpose of a bag is to carry things—all kinds of things.
Practical things, comfort things, kids things, work things, food things, just things. Each item has a carrying level of necessity, which means we carry a larger bag when we know we need to carry more and can opt for a more compact bag when we don’t.
I intend to give this category a far more significant presence on our site for the year.
I am kicking it off with the specific size of a bag that made me a fan of the design: The Chanel Mini 22 Bag.
Smaller Size, Same Style
The more compact variation of this bag is what finally sold me on it. When the Chanel 22 was first introduced, the reception was divided. Many found the design lacking a strong aesthetic as the bag didn’t have a set shape, and others thought it was the answer to a casual daily carry. I was ambivalent; it wasn’t a bag that made me want to purchase it, but I also didn’t find it appalling.
However, I felt positively inclined towards the bag when the Chanel Mini 22 came out, especially in these metallic hues. Sure, it still isn’t a distinguished shape or design, but I have always been more of a grab-and-go casual bag girl, and this bag met my personal style likes.
What Fits?
On top of it, while it is a true mini bag, it still fits plenty.

This is darling and I love the wallet you have paired with it. I had no idea this smaller size could fit so much! I have tried on the larger 22 on multiple occasions, both in the US and while traveling in Europe. Each time, the leather has felt plasticky to me. I did try one on in St Tropez that felt less so, and was a gorgeous deep greenish/blue color, but ultimately went with something else. Fun little bag for you, and I’ll bet it appeals to Millie 🙂
I had thought about the mini 22. However, Chanel won’t fix a defective shopping tote they sold me! Given the customer service and poor craftsmanship I’d be wary to purchase another Chanel bag. Guard, LV etc stand behind their bags!
