Did Pharrell Williams Just Give Us a Sneak Peak at His Capsule Collection With Chanel?

5, 4, 3, 2, 1...PHARRELL?

Back in the fall, news broke that Pharrell Williams was collaborating on a capsule collection with Chanel. Pharrell has had a longtime partnership with the brand, previously appearing in the brands ad campaigns and even walking the runway for the brand. Though this capsule collection is Pharrell’s first foray into the world of RTW for Chanel, he previously designed a sneaker in collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld and Adidas Originals. According to Forbes, the collection will launch March 29th at the Seoul flagship store and select Chanel boutiques to follow.

Pharrell is no stranger to the fashion game and has previously collaborated with brands such as Adidas and G-Star, but this just may be his biggest one yet. Pharrell appeared to tease us with a bag from this capsule collection as he attended Chanel’s Haute Couture Show in Paris this week. Street style photographer’s captured Pharrell carrying a textured tote adorned with a big, bold, white number ‘5’. The bag also features the iconic CC logo hardware and chain straps. Get a close look at this mystery bag below, and catch it in action via @Pharrell on instagram.

Would look much more luxurious without the giant 5.

Bryan Lepe

I agree. But I think it’s going for a more edgy or sporty look. I do love the hardware colour though and the chunkier, flatter double C logo. Definitely targeting the newer, younger generation, as most brands are doing now.

Heather

Seriously? Most brands are targeting the newer, younger generation? That’s a pretty broad statement that is as offensive to me as you were offended by the question “why do men wear women’s bags?”. I would disagree since younger generations typically don’t have as much spending power as more mature shoppers. Also, what makes this tote or other bags generational specific? I feel that it’s a personal preference. However, if your statement is true then next time I purchase a bag I should look inside for the tag that states the age group it is targeting.

Bryan Lepe

That tag might read
Saint Laurent
Made In Italy

Rosa Lily

It’s size, style, sturdy material and the oxidized look of the hardware is befitting of a working tote bag and can easily transform into an overnight bag or a beach bag.

psny15

this looks very tacky imo

Bryan Lepe

I think in the right size/environment it would look OK. Note I said OK and not stunning.
I don’t think it’s meant to be used in a formal setting as most large totes aren’t.
But styled the right way it can be passable. Lol.

Elle

how urban

ottercat

Croc embossed. No.

Did you notice the belt in the picture on the main page?

Bryan Lepe

God AWFUL

Sparky

I don’t understand why men wear women’s bags.

fdrc.rnldn

because they’re beautiful and because accessories do not have any gender or sexual identity

Sparky

Most accessories are marketed to gender (certain pieces like Burberry scarves are unisex). Fashion is marketed to gender. If it wasn’t then why do we have men’s and women’s departments?

Katrina

But that’s all that is, marketing. People are free to choose and buy whatever suits their fancy, as long as they’re not hurting anyone doing it. I’m currently wearing a shirt made for men, is that wrong? I have a Balenciaga Clip from the brand’s men’s line, is that offensive? Lots of women use men’s razors to shave, is that so terrible? If a woman shops at the men’s department or vice versa, who are they hurting? What rules are they breaking?

Sparky

Buy whatever you want. I think its weird for men to carry women’s bags. That’s my opinion…which I am entitled to.

Katrina

Yeah but just “thinking its (sic) weird” is different from what saying/implying that people should just shop from their respective gender’s departments, that men should just shop from men’s lines and women from women’s lines.

Bryan Lepe

Wait… seriously? I hope you’re joking….

Sparky

No I’m not. Brands make bags for men, they make bags for women. We have separate departments in the stores. I’ve never gone into the men’s department to buy something for myself.

Bryan Lepe

I’m not even gonna waste my time with you.

MD

Love this! Time better spent somewhere else.

Sparky

Noted with thanks!!!

kkonaroll

the same reason why women wear mens bags, shoes, clothing, etc.

Janet

I’ve never seen women wear men’s bags, shoes or clothing. This is just a lame response to a remark that you found offensive.

Katrina

It’s definitely not a “lame response”. In fact, it’s a factual one. I’m currently wearing a men’s shirt as I type this. I also have a bag from Balenciaga’s men’s line in my closet. And I bet there are millions of other women like me who own items of clothing and accessories from the men’s lines. Just because YOU haven’t seen it doesn’t mean it’s not true. And how will you know anyway? You can’t always tell if an item of clothing is from the men’s or women’s lines.

MD

Check out karenbritchick…

Sugar

She is a beautiful African American with an eclectic style. She incorporates men’s and women’s clothing, but not primarily men’s clothes. I believe that was the point.

Sparky

I don’t buy men’s stuff.

Heather

You said something that many ppl have thought I’m sure, but would never admit to, of course.

Tana

Forgive me, for I will never see Chanel as unisex. You can carry whatever you want of course.

Cindy

No reason to apologize for your remark that you don’t see Chanel products as unisex. Many would agree with you.

Tana

Just try to be polite on the net and don’t want to argue with gents who carry Chanel. ?
