It’s been over a year since the Celine Triomphe Bag popped up on Celine’s website along with the rest of Hedi Slimane’s debut collection for the brand. In that time the bag has slowly, but steadily found its way into the hands of some of our favorite style stars. Selena Gomez, Angelina Jolie, Brie Larson, Emilia Clarke and Karlie Kloss have all been spotted with the Triomphe bag in tow. When these VIP ladies take notice, so do we, and while this isn’t the first Celine by Hedi Slimane bag we’ve lusted after, it also likely won’t be the last.

The Triomphe logo is rooted in Celine’s history and the story goes a little something like this: Céline Vipiana’s car broke down in Paris, right in front of the Arc de Triomphe, and she was inspired by the chain that surrounds the iconic monument. The inside of the double links represent two Cs and Celine’s founder immediately adopted it as a house emblem, using it on bags, jewelry, in prints and on shoes. The iconic house motif was adopted and reimagined by new creative director Hedi Slimane, appearing as the finishing touch on a classic silhouette, which we now know as the Triomphe Bag.

The mainline Triomphe comes in three sizes, though we photographed the medium in white, which retails for $3,550, and the red in the teen size, which you can buy for $3,100, both via Celine. This handbag is classically Celine, with updated colorways and fabrics being released every season. The mainline Triomphe is crafted of a smooth, shiny calfskin leather that is both luxurious looking, due to its sheen, and incredibly soft. Though delicate, the leather, complete with the Triomphe hardware is what makes this simple, classic silhouette work.

Lined in lambskin, both sizes of the Triomphe bag contain a separated interior for maximum organization, as well two interior pockets—a slit pocket and a zippered pocket. The strap is designed to be worn either over the shoulder or crossbody as it’s adjustable. The larger of the two works well for the everyday, though it is a bit on the smaller end for an everyday bag with overall dimensions of 9″ L x 6″ H x 3′ D. The teen size is perfect for the mini bag lover with dimensions of 7″ L x 6″ H x 2″ D. Discover more via Celine.

Love it, except that the strap seems flimsy. In the pictures, looks like it’s hard to straighten out.
Good eye! I agree, i’m getting like… cheap linoleum material vibes. I’m also not a huge fan of the little logo thing, giving me very.. “shoe store that also sells bags” knockoff feels.
Haha yes Ashten! Had I not known I could have just as well guessed that this is a Aldo bag or something.
And Remi, yeah, I noticed that too. The way the strap does not lay flat makes the bag look even cheaper.
It looks good and this logo hardware is not yet worn out, unlike the ubiquitous YSL.
Maybe it looks better in person but these pictures make it look like a cheap knock-off type bag. It looks so boring.
I couldn’t agree more!
Very practical bag though the only interest is in the hardware and I’m not sure it’s that interesting! I guess time will tell.
You can see the interior and quality difference when comparing this bag to the hermes roulis. But again, this is also way cheaper.
Looks rather interchangeable with other brands of similar shapes, just a different logo. I consider this a lazy design.
Still think it looks like a bag from H&M or Topshop. Took the Box bag and changed the lock, then calls it his own design.
Uninspired. And uninspiring.

Have seen these in person and while they are beautiful, I prefer the original. I believe that no designer does sophistication and minimalism like Celine.
I believe what you are trying to say is: …like Celine did.*
You are right. That’s why prefer the original.
I just don’t wanna see ANY logos anywhere near a Celine bag. Can’t Hedi get that that’s what we loved about Celine in the first place? Ughh!
