Celebs Promote Their Books, Netflix Shows, Etc. with Bags from Thom Browne and Balenciaga

NYC's BUILD Series provides a revolving door of celebs with great bags

If your reading list is looking slight, or you’ve run out of menu planning inspiration, let celebrity authors be of assistance! Beauty vlogger Gigi Gorgeous has a book (but it’s not so much about beauty products, it’s a memoir) and actress Abbie Cornish has a cookbook! Though maybe you’d rather read her memoir? And did you know Jennifer Lopez has a sister? Everything is topsy turvy this week, celeb-wise, but the bags on very straightforward, and very on-point. Take a gander.

Lucy Hale

First up, here’s Lucy Hale, carrying an incredibly distinct mystery bag. Someone out there knows exactly what this is. But not me.

Gigi Gorgeous

YouTube star Gigi Gorgeous carried this little metallic leather Balenciaga City Bag to the BUILD Series in NYC, where she talked about her new memoir, He Said, She Said.

Hilary Duff

Hilary Duff was spotted carrying this green Goyard Tote while filming her show Younger in NYC.

Pictures of the bags look great, but the post of Jennifer Lopez re: “She’s mainly out promoting her forthcoming fourth marriage to A-Rod” seems unnecessarily snarky, shameful and beneath the dignity of this blog.

Jaime

She is actually promoting a new album and tour. But everyone is entitled to their opinion I suppose. LOL

Smithy

Count me in as someone who loved the snark against the always self promoting JLo and her equally spotlight loving betrothed A-Dud.

Kenzie

Damn, if you guys think poking fun at a celebrity in these ways are “shameful,” “beneath the dignity of this blog,” “shocking,” and “bombastic,” then you guys should watch Joan Rivers and have your minds blown.

Candee

I’m not a “guy” and this blog can do whatever they want, including slamming celebrities. It doesn’t matter that I’m in the minority opinion, I still maintain that it’s unprofessional. Also, I’m glad you brought up Joan Rivers. I had the pleasure of meeting and sitting next to Joan at a luncheon in Denver, years ago. She was warm and charming and surprisingly a little shy. However, on stage she was caustic, outrageous and didn’t care who she attacked…that was her shtick and she made no apologies. The difference to me is that the author of this article is employed by Purseblog and everything they represent. Joan didn’t have to answer to anyone, only herself. May she RIP.

Kenzie

Got it:

So, you like Joan Rivers cuz you met her and she was nice to you and helped you accept her “caustic,” “outrageous” “shtick.”

But you won’t like it when writers on this blog make fun of celebrities, because their employment strips away the individual agency that allows them to make fun of celebrities.

And you’re offended of my use of “guys,” because you think I’m trying to male-gender wash what is clearly a majority-female blog? Or you think I am gender-washing you as an individual?
Otherwise, you’re going to have to explain this to me. If that’s the case, then know i meant it as a gender-neutral plural pronoun.

Kenzie

Also, Joan Rivers was employed by E when she co-hosted Fashion Police, so she does not only “represent” herself and does have to “answer” to people while she “slams” celebrities.

Heart_of_au

Did you ever see her appearance on Will & Grace? From years ago? JLo isn’t above making jokes of her own marriage failures.

Candee

No, I missed that. However, the writer was not making light hearted jokes about Ms. Lopez’ marriage failures. Instead, the writer’s comments criticized, shamed and demeaned her failures. Also, recently Ms. Lopez stated that since she was married before she “wasn’t sure she wanted to get married again, but changed her mind since A-Rod was the one”. This blog has the freedom to write/post whatever it wants, but for the record the author of this article has a history of negative, ill intended comments. See: Katrina’s comments below.

Kenzie

She has spoken about the difficulty of her divorce to Marc Anthony in interviews but she also did this performance 4 months after separating from him:

And here’s a clip of Joan Rivers making fun of JLo’s past relationships while she was employed at E as a co-host of Fashion Police:

JLo has has been the head of a multi-million-dollar empire for over two decades. She has the resources (team, money, connections, etc.) and personal drive to succeed in every facet of life. She has been and will continue to do well despite what any blog writers, comedians, etc. say about her. NBD.

katrina

Agreed! I wish the writer spent as much time researching the weekly unidentified bags left for the readership to identify as she does putting together undignified comments on celebrities.
Having been a longtime PB reader, I still remember the distasteful comment years ago on Liz Hurley’s Uggs (October 16th 2013):

Frank Lee

Elizabeth…is that you? It’s been SIX YEARS.

Candee

You have a great memory! I never read it, but just did. I’m surprised it made the editors cut with such shocking, bombastic comments! Not surprisingly, it was written by the same author who reached out to the viewers to identify the boots.

Gega

I love those uggs! Haha. I wish they were “in” right now as they are the perfect cozy-with a little height-type of shoe. The right about of tacky for when it is fashion (like logo bags, that I too love currently, haha) and just the amount of it so that they really can’t be worn when they are not. So sad for that.

Katrina

BTW the mystery bag the writer is unable to identify on Lucy Hale is the Frankie Shop Luggage Leather & Canvas Saddle Shoulder Bag, which took me less than 5 minutes to do a google search and locate 🙂

JH

Lynda Lopez is a celebrity?

Jaime

No but a Birkin Bag is always a celebrity. LOL

SeeJay

Plus she’s looking a bit rough. Women empowerment, blah blah blah—she looks rough.

Bryan Lepe

I’m so proud of GiGi. I met her years ago when she first started her journey, in NYC, and I’m so happy to see where she is now.
I can also tell she’s grown as a person too.

Hu

How come such an obvious Chloé ripoff as the JW Pei double moon bag that Abbie Cornish is carrying featured?

Jerri R

Everyone, please remind me to take on an alias as glorious as “Gigi Gorgeous” if I ever decide to seek fame

RE RE

I have that exact mettalic city bag and it’s
amazing.
