Basically Everyone Carried Bottega Veneta’s The Pouch at NYFW

Or the Dior Saddle Bag

In the waning days of NYFW, celebs turned to one bag and one bag alone. It seems like this extremely versatile bag ended up in the hands of every fashion influencer worth her salt at roughly the same time. That’s no accident, of course. Will this trend continue at the subsequent European fashion weeks? Only time will tell. But how do you feel about this NYFW “IT” bag today?

There is something funny about these relatively unknown people standing on the street and posing for pictures. They need to not take themselves so seriously.

Annie

Agreed! “Relatively unknown” is the perfect description for them.

Rosa Lily

Forget the bags just give me Shea Marie’s shoes.

Sarah

Personally, the Bottega Veneta The Pouch is a bag that I would buy, but sadly the price is out of my range.

Jaime G

Bottega Veneta clearly gave away too many of these pouch bags to celebrities and influencers. I like the bag but now every single company is going to make some knock off version (insert: Rebecca Minkoff and Michael Kors) and poof the idea of the elusive pouch bag is over.

Guest

Same sentiment! As a Bottega Veneta fan, I felt alienated with the new design. Suddenly, the brand seems everywhere??! The previous creative director did not like giving his bag for free that’s why you dont see it anywhere. Most of Lee’s current bag design including RTWs are so boring and ugly. In order for his design to gather buzz, his team has to give them to these so called influencers

I really enjoy Lyn Slater (and her collection of enormous earrings). And Shea Marie looks absolutely gorgeous. I don’t care for the BV pouch much, though.

Kenzie

Unlike most bloggers/influencers, I truly enjoy Lyn Slater! She seems to, yes, consume, but also produce her content with joy, rather than just being thirsty (af) for the production of her own image.

The Bottega Veneta bag looks like a garbage bag that some is folding over and using to carry her belongings. It’s pretty bad and everyone carrying it in this story looks like a fashion victim. I have no idea who half of these women are. Relatively unknown is a great descriptor. I think I would prefer if PurseBlog was a little more selective in your definition of “celebs.”

FashionableLena

I didn’t like the pouch. Since I’ve seen it person at our local Bottega Veneta boutique, I dislike it even more. It’s too big and clunky. On top of that, it looks like a dumpling.
Miley Cyrus? Woof.
This article was boring, and this is my favorite part of PurseBlog. Whomever that Shea chick is has on a gorgeous dress.

Polkadotbird

The Pouch just seems like it would be incredibly annoying to use.

Cait

I agree. I saw it in person recently and it is gorgeous, a unique / fresh design, and I totally get the hype – but for $2,500 am I carrying the thing to Target? I need my luxury bags to function in my daily life, not sit on a shelf for most days out of the year because I don’t get photographed on the street weekly. I just don’t see it as worth the investment for me (attorney by day, (somewhat) normal human being by night)….

Sparky

In previous NYFWs PurseBlog went out and photographed attendees on the street. This just looks like a parade of pics plucked from Instagram – UGH, what a snore…. The street shots were infinitely more interesting.

Megs Mahoney Dusil

Hoping to get back to that next season! Between having the kids and Vlad had back surgery last month, it hasn’t been feasible!

Sparky

Back surgery? Oh no! Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Candee

I think you and Vlad deserve kudos for creating a fun, and interesting blog. With everything going on in your lives you manage to find time, daily, to provide this service to the public! Thx!

While I like the look of the pouch, the lack of an optional shoulder strap for a bag of that size is a dealbreaker for me. I can’t imagine lugging that around in the crook of my arm filled with stuff. If, however, BV made a medium version with a strap, I’d be all over it.

Jerri R

I feel the tired arm muscles just from looking at these pics

Vicky

I like the pouch. I think it’s one of most practical clutch in term of holding capacity.

Guest

Uhh.. have you personally seen it? It is really big! Lauren 1980 is just the right size.

Love Bottega

You are right that the Lauren 1980 is smaller, but to me it resembles a cosmetic bag. Also, The Pouch is $2,400 and The Lauren 1980 is $2,250, which are comparable. The Pouch is not as structured and this appeals to me.

I hate the word ‘influencer’. I don’t even know who those people are,so definitely can’t ‘influence’ me. It’s a made up rubbish ‘job’ title just to get freebies and not have to get a real job. What happens if one day instagram and other social media platforms just disappear? How can they be an ‘influencer’ then?
Why are Bottega Veneta and the like sending freebies to these nobodies anyway!

lct

“Influencer” is a job — consider it a content creator. Most “influencers” spend considerable time and money planning, creating, and editing content. And sure, if Instagram suddenly goes belly-up or becomes irrelevant, they’ll have to find a new career — but most people run that risk, or having their job automated out of existence.

Jay

No,sorry to say but it’s not a real job. It’s a rubbish title to make themselves sound relevant. To be honest,I’ve never heard of any of those ‘influencers’ out there right now. Needless to say, they haven’t ‘influenced’ me one bit.

Laurie kucic

It’s a job for free things and money. There is no integrity when your shilling things you got as a gift. There’s no authenticity in the influencer game. It’s so fake. It’s false advertising. I don’t think they should get for free what we have to spend money on.

Heidi

Maybe I’m naive when it comes to “Influencers”, but do they really “get their bags for free”? I was under the impression that bags were “loaned” to celebrities, but IDK why I thought that. Since you are so knowledgeable maybe you can also help me understand exactly what an “Influencer” is? This term seems to be used so loosely that I really don’t know. (Hopefully, no posters will attack me for my lack of understanding, but I’m also of the belief that “there is no stupid question”). Thx!

Jerri R

I know marketing is expensive for premium designer goods, but for some reason, I would feel especially stupid knowing that the exorbitant prices include all the freebies and gifts to the celebs and wannabes. And yes, I am talking about the Bottega clutches.

Aliza Zibkoff

Not loving the Bottega Veneta “The Pouch”. It just looks like a mouth that could really use some dentures. Not understanding the concept AT ALL.

cosmo

I really like the look of the pouch…especially the intrecciato design. Granted it’s not the most functional but I can see it paired very nicely with many items in my wardrobe.

Laurie kucic

The pouch is yet another “it”bag that has been given to influencers. They did not buy it. When they wear it because they are asked to does that count as an “it” bag? Shouldn’t the bag of the moment be organically created rather than handed to people for free? I was gonna buy it, and I like it but when people get things for free that I have to work for it grates on me. So I’m gonna hard pass on this.

Giselle

I like the pouch and saw in store when it was first released. But I agree with other commentors, it’s not really It bag if given for free.
