Currently Coveting: the Byredo Circuit Medium Bag

Perfect for anyone who's had enough of the logo love trend

One of my professional goals for this year was to spotlight lesser known brands, and while oftentimes that means indie brands at a more contemporary price point, today I’m discussing a luxury brand that I very often forget even makes handbags: Byredo.

You may be familiar with Byredo thanks to their cult-favorite fragrance Gypsy Water. Founded in 2006, Byredo originally began as a maker of luxury perfumes, and its founder Ben Gorham was inspired by the link between scents and memories.

Though Byredo’s trajectory into handbags and luxury goods may seem a bit far off, it’s not uncommon for luxury brands to produce both categories, however typically the fragrance comes second. Regardless, the move into leather goods began in the late 2010s and was a natural progression for the brand. Byredo aims to “reinvent the world of luxury through a new approach”, and looking and its current bags it seems that they are doing just that.

Though Byredo is top of mind for me when thinking about luxury fragrances, I often forget that Byredo actually makes handbags as well. Recently I was scrolling through the rabbit hole that is instagram (I promise I’m doing this less—it’s another resolution), when I spotted a sleek bag with clean, sharp lines in the hands of an incredibly stylish woman.

You’ll likely be thrilled to know her follower count wasn’t equivalent to any number you’d kill to add to your bank account and thus wouldn’t be considered an ‘influencer’. I don’t even recall her account but I do recall the bag, it was Byredo.

I made a mental note and finally got a chance to check out some of their current bags. My eye was immediately drawn to the Circuit Medium Bag ($2,100). I immediately loved the clean lines and stitching, and was drawn to the bag’s overall sleek silhouette. Its lack of branding was also, quite honestly, incredibly refreshing.

The Circuit Bag is crafted of classic calfskin, and lined in luxurious lambskin. While I was drawn to the understated calfskin version, the bag also comes in a truly stunning painted python version. Take a look at more silhouettes from Byredo below.
