Of all the trends that we see in a given season, color trends are the hardest to monitor. Virtually every shade you can imagine is represented in one way or another in the luxury handbag world. So, in order for a color to be ‘trending’, it has to be widely available at nearly every major brand. Over the last few years we’ve called out red as a trending color time and time again, with nearly all of our favorite designers offering up the beautiful bright hue.
However, the move towards red offerings has continued to pick up steam season after season, and at this point it has become more of a closet staple than a trend color. Designers no longer work red into their offerings as a standout piece, rather the shade is carried over season after season. Fall 2020 is no different, and there are so many good bags to pick from. Pantone has even included two different shades in its autumnal color report.
That being said, there’s no time like the present to invest in a red bag. Red works for so many reasons, but the main one being that it can read as an unlikely neutral when incorporated into any outfit, all the while providing a fun pop of color. Check out which red bags we’ve got our eyes on below.
I completely agree that red is timeless. I fully intend on adding a red bag to my collection someday, it’s just not first on my list. My next purchase will be another neutral. That being said, catch me scrolling on Fashionphile monthly putting the filter on red and admiring all the bags. Kaitlin, I’ve always had bag envy over your red croc nano SDJ and who knows, maybe I’ll copy you exactly someday!
Truly it is timeless! I didn’t realize how well it works with so many styles and palettes until I had a red bag. If you can find it I highly recco. One of my favorite bags!
I never understood the concept of colors being hard or scary to wear, or that question of “how to wear certain colors” (step 1. Put the color on. Congrats you are now wearing it ?), but whatever is making people comfortable with showcasing it more is fine with me. Now I need brands to get on board with making pink a staple bag color ??
I think darker shades of red always look good ie maroon, oxblood, wine. When there’s too much orange in a red color it can look fluorescent which usually isn’t a cute look. The bags you picked out are all great- there’s something about red crocodile that screams “look at me” but in a good way.
I absolutely LOVE my Red Chanel Jumbo. It was an interesting choice for me as I chose it over the black but I’m so glad I did. It’s such a fun pop of color and I get tons of compliment from women AND men everytime I wear it.
After waffling between a red bag and an orange bag, I’ll be getting red!
This red Alma BB is growing on me, such a nice color for this bag !
