In case you’ve been unaware the last few days, September is finally upon us, which means that the start of fall is quite literally a stones throw away. Pre-Orders for fall bags tend to pop up online mid-summer, so at this point new fall bags have been creeping up on us for sometime now. Though fall weather is not yet here, we’ve already got a pretty solid idea which bags are going to be everywhere when the temps do finally drop. Fall’s new arrivals are, across the board, pretty good. There are plenty of jewel tones to be had, as well as new shapes with clean lines. Logos are still at play, but some designers are taking a different approach (think hardware vs all-over logos). Ahead of New York Fashion Week, which begins tomorrow, we’re taking a look at 12 of the most wanted bags for fall 2019. Editors, celebs and influencers alike are sure to be toting some of these around NYC in the days to come.
12 of the Most Wanted Bags for Fall 2019
Hot new picks from our favorite designers are in...
Most of these bags don’t warrant the price.
Exactly.
I like the Burberry tote. But I’d be worried it will scratch really easy.
The Mansur Gavriel cloud clutch is a less $$ option to the Bottega. Too bad I can’t find one available online… sold out!
hahah didn’t even know MG had a similar cloud clutch bag. wonder who came out with it first.
Me too
The Row bag looks like a direct rip off of the Hermes Bolide and Louis Vuitton Alma bags.
Absolutely agree.
I do like the new take on the Fendi baguette.
I’m a big believer that, while it’s generally normal practice for celebs to get free bags, celebs only ever carry Row because it’s free. Otherwise they never would. Ever.
I think there was an article here about this shape and that it’s just a classic shape of the past and not something LV or Hermes invented
You forgot two of the most important, Balenciaga’d hourglass bag, and Chloe Aby lock bag (not day bag, the one that looks like a giant lock). I’m a buyer and I’m telling you the Balenciaga is going to be big as far as “IT bags” are concerned.
Thank you for the suggestions. I somehow missed Chloé Aby lock bag. Just checked on the website and fell in love. I will go check it out in the boutique this weekend. Beautiful bag!
The Balenciaga Hourglass bag is so strange looking. What makes you know that it’s going to be the next “IT” bag? Also, the Chloe Aby Lock bag, according to a Chloe Rep, is their “biggest seller”; but that bag looks like a big lock and I cannot believe it is allegedly selling so well. Thoughts?
Now I want a lock bag! Not a fan of Balenciaga.
Well, people are seemingly getting bored of the same old styles and shapes of handbags in the last couple of years. Options are simple, the brands recycle “vintage piece inspiration” (like the Chloe Aby), or they go out completely on a limb (such as the Balenciaga Hourglass). I’ve also heard a lot of buzzing about the Balenciaga hourglass bag in both Japan and China, and they’re always ahead in terms of fashion. Besides, the bag gives a modern twist on a classic with a touch of edginess, what’s not to like? Pre-ordered mine in the small black on black croc! ?
Well, I still don’t see the appeal, but hope you enjoy!
I love the Chloe Aby bag!
I do too! I bought the brown one (forgot the color name) and it’s so neutral and perfect for Fall.
Underwhelmed
Thank you for including so many more (relatively) affordable bags.
Why on earth would anyone dish out that much cash for the Row? Just get an Alma (pre loved too!)
I wonder who would want that ugly bag from Bottega. And when did bottega become a sought after brand?
I am not a fan of all of them either, but Daniel Lee has resuscitated the brand successfully. BV is probably the biggest buzz brand going right now, and that pouch is flying off shelves. Personally the pouch isn’t my thing, but I love the puffy quilting for fall.
The Bottega pouch bag is one of the it bags of the fall. Bottega has alway been a known coveted bag for the basket weave of the leather. They also just hired a new director and the new pieces are the first coming out of the collection.
Im very well aware of that. Bottega was always the anti it bag. And then you suddenly saw these so called influencers sporting this bag that looks like a human pancreas. I doubt they know the word Nappa or at least name a bottega leather treatment.
Omg human pancreas
Personally, I wouldn’t buy any of these.
The top rings and strap of the Chloe lock bag are too busy and horrible. I do like the Balenciaga Hourglass bag—it;s a clever twist on a classic shape and is quite elegant in design.

Ferragamo bags are fartsy.
Not anymore. The Boxyz, Studio and Margot are fresh and gorgeous!
6&7 look kinda nice
Weirdly, the Salvatore Ferragamo Large Box Satchel looks interesting since I don’t own any bags like this. However, I don’t know anything about the brand or their quality? Can anyone provide any feedback?
Really high quality but low resale value. One of the OG Italian luxury brands. Great with practical details. Almost always understated and classic.
I have two bags and they look great. One is a few years old and shows very little wear other than an indentation where the strap buckles.
Thank you for this information! They are pretty bags!
