Somehow, when my name comes up as the moniker for a new handbag or pair of shoes, it’s always a piece that I don’t like. At all. Something I’d never consider buying and likely wouldn’t even wear if it were to find its way to me for free. So you can imagine my delight when I was checking the new arrivals at Net-a-Porter.com this morning and found the Selima Optique Amanda Sunglasses, which I loved even before I realized that the universe had conspired to name them after me. (Ok, they’re not named after me at all. Except in my head. In my head, they’re definitely named after me.) What better fodder for this week’s Want It Wednesday?
I’ve made no secret of my love for bright accessories, and for summer, how can you say no to pink? The translucent plastic frames look more high-end and expensive than opaque plastic, and they also give the color a bit more dimension. If hot pink sunglasses can ever be truthfully called subtle, then these are subtle, and the size and shape are perfect. Finally, a product with which I’m proud to share a name. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $350.

I think they’re great, but I have loved Selima’s glasses from the beginning. I’m so glad that she’s doing so well with the business. She was my eyeglass salesperson back at Mikli, in Paris, in the 80s and up until she moved to the U.S. Great glasses! Great person!
These are cute and I love the color but the color is also too dated to be worth $350.

After multiple pairs of black sunglasses I bought a pair of tortoiseshell sunglasses, a stretch for me. I still prefer black. I could see getting a white pair, but not pink.

I love big sunglasses.I’m happy now that the trend is thru bigger sunglasses. Color wise.. I’m not sure about the pink.. but I’m willing to try it! Everything is beautiful in Pink!! or Purple!!
