It may be very weird of me to be posting pictures of Lindsay carrying her ‘last handbag’ before her cluster-mess-of-an-arrest that occurred early yesterday morning. I can’t help it; celebrity gossip is such a driving force. Not to mention a handful of readers asked me what bag LiLo was carrying and I figured I should answer. And then I figured why not showcase it as her last bag pre-DUI-car chase-cocaine carrying-assistant firing-arrest. In the last few days before her drama hit its pinnacle, Lindsay Lohan was sporting a Jimmy Choo Mahala Tote in electric blue. This tote is absolutely stunning, sporting contrast suede panels and gold hardware and two front zip fastenings. Here I am again, in yet another airport. I am not sure if you realize it, but the airport might as well be my second home. I am on a lay over in Charlotte right now (I took the 6 am flight, I am crazy), waiting for my flight back to Ohio. Lucky me, my flight is delayed over an hour. This means my lay over is long, I have more of a chance to be seen as the sun keeps shining, and it is not a pretty sight. I need more R&R. Of course, I made my way to a lovely corner and am looking for a new carry-on bag. That is my life, I really do obsess about bags. I realized my carry on is absolutely falling apart, yet I still can not justify buying anything nicer. I do need a bigger carry on, because dag gummit I will fit as much as humanly possibly under the seat in front of me. I am obsessing with the cheap leather bags Marc Jacobs has put out for his Marc line. The price is perfect and the lush leather and over sized dimensions make the Marc by Marc Jacobs Delancy Tote swoon worthy. The cognac leather is accented with brass hardware and features a removable leather shoulder strap. The slight pleating on each side adds a nice dimension, and I love the embossed luggage tag. This is truly an over sized bag, measuring 21.5″ W x 18.5″ H. Give me that and I will turn it into my Mary Poppins bag! Just under $700 via Net A Porter.

Edit: I thought this at first, but Silky’s comment made me realize I did not mention it! This Marc number closely resembles the Miu Miu pleated bags that were being designed for a while, especially the Miu Miu Nappa Soft Tote. Is it lack of brains by Marc, or flattering imitation?

I am a notorious over-packer. If there is a club that meets out there named ‘Over-packers anonymous’ I would be in it. I’m that person that thinks every shirt I own will be cute on my vacation. I even over-pack to come home where a) I have clothes here still and b) I typically live in a bikini. And with the one carry one, and one purse rule, I push the limits. My one carry on weighs more than my checked-in bag. My ‘purse’ knocks people’s heads off as I stroll down the isle. Sure, my shoulder and body hurts after carrying these from airport to airport, but by-golly I will not leave anything behind. So I am loving the Marc by Marc Jacobs Nylon Tote because it is a lightweight material, a huge bag, and does not cost as much as my typical carry on ‘purse’. The quilted logo lettering is hard to decipher on the pink nylon body. There is a tag on the front deemed a ‘workwear’ tag. Large pockets can be found on the sides, there are knot details at each handle, and a magnetic closure finishes off the bag. On the inside, more organizational pockets make me smile; including a zipper pocket and two patch pockets. The dimensions are large, measuring in at 18″H x 17″L x 5.5″D. Yes, this bag is huge, but for the price and considering the way I use my carry-on purse, this would be ideal. Take that airlines! Buy for a mere $178 at Shop Bop.

For an elegant understated designer, Prada is many women’s go-to. My college school bag was a Prada Nylon Messenger but I always lusted after the supple deerskin they offered. Now that I have two of them, I can not get enough. A stunning bag for fall, the Prada Cervo Lux Tote showcases lush deerskin with a chain handle. The shape is simple, the idea is simple, but the wow factor is huge. I am lusting for the white version, but the black is a gorgeous option also. Dimensions are 12½”W X 12″H X 5″D. As prices go up, this bag really seems to be reasonable. Buy the black or pre-order the white at Saks for $1495.

If you did not like patent, you better learn to like it. Fall is all about patent leather handbags. I absolutely love the slight bit of edge that patent leather can bring to an accessory. Better yet, it looks super sleek and refined. Miu Miu may be the baby sister of Prada, but does not disappoint when it comes to finding a great bag for a better price many times. The Miu Miu Patent Leather Tote sports black patent leather with slight ruched side panels and gold hardware. The trend for fall is hand held bags that offer a more square dimensions but pack a style punch. There are zip fastening pockets on each side, the option of a shoulder strap, and double top handles. The closure is magnetic stud and the inside is lined in canvas. The price is slightly over the 1k mark; $1095 via Net A Porter.

Understated elegance is part of Anya Hindmarch’s repertoire. Yet Anya catches our attention season after season with refined stunning bags that range from day to day wear to special occasion wear. Somewhere in the spectrum the Anya Hindmarch Bogart Leather Tote finds its place, with shiny patent leather and rich suede accents. The silver hardware is a better option than gold would have been. There are double top handles, an outside back pocket, two inside pockets, and suede lining. Dimensions are 17¼”W X 11½”H X 6″D, which means this bag could be used everyday. Similar in appearance to the Yves Saint Laurent Uptown Small Bag, it can be assumed that structure and blue patent leather are the hot commodities for fall.
