We can turn almost any occasion into an excuse to shop for handbags, and Halloween isn’t even a particular challenge. We already found more than a dozen bags that are just straight-up creepy no matter the context, and today we’re back with another 12 that fit particularly well with particular costumes. Is it an objectively smart idea to spend a couple thousand bucks on a bag for your costume? No, but personally, I’ve rarely let that stop me from doing anything I wanted to do, for better or for worse.
Mother Nature
Alexander McQueen Sphere Tasseled Clutch
$4,795 via Net-a-Porter
Grab a baby goat, put on your best crown of branches and sling this bag, detailed with tiny silver leaves, over your shoulder. Just don’t let the goat near the bag.
Vampire
ASOS Vampire Clutch
$38 via ASOS
This one’s a little on-the-nose, but Halloween is the most on-the-nose of holidays.
Geisha
Charlotte Olympia Lander Clutch
$2,995 via Net-a-Porter
Listen to me very carefully: you should probably not dress up as a geisha. That costume can get racist very quickly. If you’re going to anyway, though, this is a pretty cute clutch. Don’t say I didn’t warn you when Twitter gets ahold of your Instagram, though.
Ninja and/or 90s Hippie
Charlotte Olympia Ying Tang Clutch
$1,095 via Net-a-Porter
Personally, I think Extra From Clueless is a perfectly acceptable Halloween costume, and maybe even a secretly great one.
Anna Dello Russo
Dolce & Gabbana Sicily Printed Satchel
$1,995 via Net-a-Porter
Anna Dello Russo makes for a great costume because it’s an excuse to listen to your fashion id and buy a bunch of ridiculous, impractical, totally awesome stuff.
Pumpkin
Fendi Shearling Peekaboo Bag
$3,250 via Net-a-Porter
This bag would also coordinate well with, say, a Big Bird costume for a bit of contrast.
Butterfly
Givenchy Butterfly Pouch
$435 via SSENSE
Givenchy seems like a brand that would embrace Halloween, don’t you think?
Your Favorite Anime Character
McQ Alexander McQueen Manga Zip Clutch
$295 via SSENSE
Please excuse my ignorance; I don’t know the names of any anime characters.
A Fashion Victim
Moschino Happy Meal Clutch
$1,050 via Net-a-Porter
Don’t get mad at me for this one. Get mad at Moschino.
A Pinup Girl
Olympia Le-Tan Russian Roulette Clutch
$1,736 via LUISAVIAROMA
Le-Tan takes a lot of influence from burlesque, in case you were wondering why she made a clutch with a bent-over woman on it in the first place.
Red Riding Hood
RED Valentino Fox Clutch
$790 via Net-a-Porter
Okay, so it’s a fox, not a wolf. It doesn’t matter. Everyone gets drunk on Halloween.
Wonder Woman
Stella McCartney Star Clutch
$785 via Net-a-Porter
I couldn’t find you a golden lasso, so this clutch will have to do.
