Mansur Gavriel Debuts New Bags, Suede and Shoe Line for Spring 2016

Last night we had the pleasure of attending Mansur Gavriel‘s first-ever New York Fashion Week presentation, and the expansion that the brand unveiled was befitting of the venue. Not only were four new bags shapes to accompany the brand’s beloved bucket bags and totes, but there were new colors, materials and a whole bunch of shoes.

It was an open secret that Mansur Gavriel would be letting the public see its shoes for the first time at the presentation, and the handful of styles they debuted fit right in with the brand’s streamlined, retro-modern look. There were both chunk platforms and single-soled mules, all with simple strap arrangements and heel heights ranging from flat to 110 MM, with five heel heights and four strap configurations in all, in both vegetable-tanned leather and the brand’s new suede.

None of the brand’s existing bag shapes were on display at the presentation; instead, it displayed the company’s four new additions, three of which were clutches. The Volume Clutch is an oversized frame bag, the Flat Clutch is generously proportioned flap clutch, the Moon Clutch is a zippered pouch with a flat bottom and curved top and the Circle Bag is exactly that: a structured, circular top handle bag that will come in several sizes.

All of the new bags will be available in the brand’s new suedes and custom Maharam textiles, but those materials will not be making the jump to the brand’s existing styles for Spring 2016. Mansur Gavriel isn’t ruling it out for future seasons, though, so I will go ahead and start dreaming of a suede bucket bag right now. The brand will be debuting two new shades of pink leather for its existing styles, though: Rococo, a deep pink that tends toward purple, as well as blush, a lighter pink that falls between the brand’s existing Peony and Rosa shades. Both will be available in calf leather for the new bags as well.

If you’re more of a canvas aficionado, MG’s Creme-colored canvas will now be available with three new leather accent colors: Black, Camello and Brandy. The Lady Bag is also getting a canvas version in its regular size, and the leather Lady Bag will be getting a new mini version added to the lineup.
