The 30 Best Resort 2016 Bags, from Balenciaga to Tory Burch

While Resort 2016 shows aren’t quite over yet–resort and pre-fall, unlike fall and spring, don’t have designated weeks in which the shows occur–things are definitely winding down, and almost all of the major brands have shown us what they’ve got. We combed through dozens of shows and lookbooks, and based on what we found, we’ve compiled a guide to all the bags you need to know.

The biggest missing brands here are Céline, Givenchy and Coach. Both Céline and Givenchy tend to be stingy with the bags in their pre-season press materials, so we’re not waiting around for them to get started, and Coach isn’t doing a resort show. As it is, we had no problem finding 30 notable bags to gawk at.

My favorite of the new season so far is Balenciaga’s structured buckle tote, which looks like it’s made out of bicolor belts, but Michael Kors also made an impressively minimalist showing with multicolored shoulder bags that felt thoroughly modern. Check them all out below; if anything else interesting debuts, we’ll be sure to let you know.

It’s nice to see a wide range of bags were chosen for this article, something for everyone. Love the bag from CHANEL and Bottega Veneta, the LOUIS VUITTON one looks very much like a different version of Birkin though

I agree, the first Balenciaga is impressive! Why aren’t I rich? 🙁 🙁

…the belt Balenciaga bag…OMG…I’m in love!

Ohlala! That strap on the last Valentino bag picture! *drools

Wait, can we get some love for that Mulberry tote?! That strap design is ingenious and practical. I’d love to carry this tote, it’s beautiful.

Louis Vuitton looks like a birkin to me.

I totally agree with you 🙂

Not usually a fan of Mulberry….but that bag design and color is stunning.

Also love the Stella floral tote but have never been able to justify the price of her non-leather bags.

The Balenciaga bag in the first photo is fab, but it looks like it might be heavy. I liked the little Halston Heritage bag and am curious to see what the Chloe Faye bag in quilted leather looks like “in person” — not sure if it will be a hit or a miss.

Michael Kors’ phyton shoulder bag look gorgeous. I am not a fan of the brand but that one is sure a step up from the house.
