One of the most sought-after and well-known motifs in the accessory world is Valentino’s Rockstud. Introduced in 2010, the Rockstud quickly made its way onto the arms of celebrities, socialites, and bag lovers alike. The Rockstud design itself was born from architecture found around Valentino’s headquarters in Rome.
Updates from Maison Valentino have included different iterations, from mini Rockstuds to single stud renditions to every color variation imaginable. The latest update is the Valentino Garavani Rockstud23, a smooth calfskin shoulder bag with tone-on-tone enameled stud trim.
The Rockstud Line Expands
The campaign featured Florence Pugh and showcased the fun-loving side of the brand, reminding us that fashion doesn’t need to be taken too seriously. The Valentino Pink PP color remains my favorite and perfectly aligns with the Barbiecore summer upon us.
The bag is compact, and though the Rockstuds are the same tonal color as the leather, the hardware is a striking platinum finish that stands out. The iconic hook closure leads to the interior, where you will find leather lining and an interior slip pocket. There’s also the nifty detail of the separation of the interior into three compartments, which I love. This is also why you see the gusset sides on the bag as well.
The adjustable shoulder strap offers four heights, and this means you can wear the bag crossbody as well with a minimum 8.6″ drop and a maximum 19.6″ drop. Overall dimensions are 7.2″ W x 4.7″ H x 3.1″ D. This bag allows an iPhone Plus to fit, and for me, this makes it usable if you can pare down your daily items.
@purseblog “I Mean… It’s Rockstud!” This time giving you a sixty second review of the @Valentino #Rockstud23 bag! #bagreview
If you want more space, there is a larger size (shown in black here) with overall dimensions of 9″ W x 5.1″ H x 3.5″ D. These designs speak to Valentino Garavani’s core customer, one that has a liking to the Rockstud motif and also opts for a classic bag shape with a little pizazz.
The Shoes
While the Rockstud bags are iconic and instantly recognizable, Rockstud shoes may vie for the spot as the most iconic of them all. There is no denying the hold Rockstud shoes have on the fashion world, and whether you choose to match your bags to your shoes or wear them separately, there truly is a Rockstud for everyone.
Pink Valentino rockstud bags make my heart sing!
The studs are really starting to look dated. Time to move on…
Completely disagree. It’s become a signature of Valentino. And they wouldn’t keep making them if people weren’t continually buying them.
You got that right!!!!
I totally agree. The studs—and especially that shoe style—are so overplayed. Avoid at all cost if you want to look like you have a sense of style and a personality.
I doubt the many people are worried about being judged by you when wearing anything rockstud. Someones personality can’t be judged by what they wear. And style is subjective.
She said they’ve been around since 2010…so I don’t think they are going anywhere. It is part of their signature look. 🙂
Love, love rocking my rocks! Love these shoes, most comfortable shoes, ever worn! Valentino is my go brand! After spending thousands on bags and shoes, I don’t care if they look dated!! Rock on ….
This bag reminds me of the Coach Studio bag with the rivets.
The colors are gorgeous!
I went to the boutique to purchase the bag but the adjustable strap is not detachable so it is pretty much a no go for me – bummer
