With the spring 2021 fashion shows behind us we now have a pretty solid look at what’s to come from fashion’s biggest names at the start of next year. One of the major trends seen on the spring runways also happens to be quite practical for the times that we are living in. From Fendi and Chanel to Miu Miu and Versace, smartphone carriers are a huge trend for spring. Most of these designs feature crossbody straps for easy, hands-free wear, though Fendi focused on a tiny top-handle version.
Another overwhelmingly present trend toted by models were woven and caged-like designs. From the soft woven carryalls of Dior and Burberry to the hard-sided, see-through structured shapes seen at Fendi and Chanel, caged silhouettes add a unique element of dimensionality and style. While mini bags continue to trend, appearing in a select number of collections this season, some designers are also choosing to move away from them entirely, focusing on other sizes and silhouettes. It’s also worth noting that the influx of belt bags on the runway seems to have ceased this season. Check out spring 2021’s key silhouettes below.
Mini phone carriers appropriate for the times we live in. “Caged” bags feel even more appropriate for both our stay at home orders and psychological state we live in!
I had that Fendi jelly bag as a kid in the ‘80s. Pretty sure you can still buy those for $10. I had a mini version that I loved.
Of course, it wasn’t Fendi, but it looked exactly like it.
The woven bags feel like a fad not worth spending designer $$ on.
The cell phone bags are perfect for concerts, sporting events, etc. Like the look and I don’t think the trend is going anywhere.
Agree woven bags are so blah like pieces recovered from a shipwreck
What a nice article. Very well written. I wish they included links to some of the bags. I guess I will have to wait until the bags available for sale???
