Pyramids, globes, half-moons, matchboxes, oh my! If you haven’t noticed, geometric-inspired handbags are having a serious moment.
From Saint Laurent and Staud, to Chloé and Mansur Gavriel, these shapely picks offer new angles to your favorite (and more traditional) handbags. While you may not use one as an everyday bag, many of the below work as fun accent pieces for an evening out or a posh daytime event.
Would you spend big bucks to get your hands on one of these quirky shapes? I must admit, I’m eyeing the Rosantica Half Moon Pearly Cage Clutch Bag. What can I say? It’s hard for me to turn down pearls.
The price for that Saint Laurent hatbox bag is INSANE. And it’s calf-hair, ugh, would work better in velvet and leather instead. The Staud Hutton accordion bag (“mama had a squeeze box…”) looks like a knock-off version of the Gabriele Hearst Diana bag. But at least it’s priced realistically. Saint Laurent should win the “Most Hubristic Bag Price of the Year” award.
The Saint Laurent is insane! A few months ago I purchased a similar bag, from a mall store, for only $60. When this trend wears off the impact to my wallet will be lessened.
oops, meant Gabriela!
If the Staud bag is your thing they are further reduced at MatchesFashion.com from $375 to $225. However, for me all of the bags shown here seem too much a “flash in the pan”. I’ve been guilty of being caught up in the “bag of the moment”, but I’m currently more focused on clearing these bags out of my collection. I’m more interested in the classics since they work better for me and have sustainability.
The leopard hatbox is fun.
If you think about it, every bag is a geometric bag 😉
BAOBAO clutch is crazy money.
