When belt bags re-emerged on the scene a few years ago, I was shocked to say the least. Growing up, it had been ingrained into my brain that fanny packs are a major no-no, and belt bags are pretty much glorified fanny packs, right? When Kendall Jenner was photographed nonstop with her belt bags back in 2017, my shock turned to intrigue. I distinctly remember reading that article and scoffing, convinced that the belt bag trend would never take off. Two years later, I am eating a large piece of humble pie and admitting my wrongs, because love them or hate them, belt bags are undeniably one of the hottest trends. Belt bags are inescapable these days, with every major designer offering their own spin on one of the most popular bag styles du jour.
[sc_ic_ad1]Although I was reluctant to jump on the belt bag trend at first, I had a change of heart recently. The reason? Well, I found one that I just cannot get off my mind. I am absolutely smitten with Louis Vuitton’s version of the belt bag, aptly named “the Bumbag”. The Louis Vuitton Bumbag is the stand out piece from Louis Vuitton’s summer 2019 capsule collection, and I was taken with it from the moment I laid eyes on it. I am particularly loving the Bumbag in “kaki”, it’s the perfect color combination for summer. No one is more surprised than me that I am obsessing over a belt bag, but here I am.
I really can never see myself wearing one wrapped around my waist, but I am slowly but surely becoming a fan of them when worn across the body. I’ve said it before, but I am not sold on the mini bag trend, and the belt bag is a solid hands-free alternative to the mini bag trend since it provides more space for all of my belongings. A belt bag would be super convenient while traveling or running errands, and I would be a lot happier to wear a belt bag across my chest than a micro sized bag on my shoulder.
Louis Vuitton’s Bumbag has sparked a fascination and admiration of belt bags within me, and I have been perusing all of my favorite brands to look at the many belt bag options. I’m a major fan of Gucci’s GG Marmont matelassé belt bag, which features three detachable pouches (so functional and cute!). Dare I say it, but I must confess I am a newly converted fan of this trend. I may be wearing mine across my body, but I’m on board with belt bags. How long is too long to think about a bag before pulling the trigger? Do I need the Louis Vuitton Bumbag?
I’m listing my favorite takes on this trend below. Do you have a favorite?

I don’t mind the Prada. The rest I would pass on. I guess I haven’t made it past the anti-fanny-pack bias yet!
Omg that Prada bag is hideous. In all iterations. Top handle, Shoulder bag, cross body and belt bag.
The Fendi one is ok and so is the YSL. This trend Id rather see worn like a sling bag more than a belt.
I have the cuyana circle one and I love it. I also like the Chloe and Lo and Sons
I’ve never liked “fanny packs” and changing the name to a “bumbag” or a “belt bag” doesn’t make it more attractive to me. However, does social media influence some buying decisions from a firm no, to a maybe, then to a yes? Are we influenced to buy because it’s been seen everywhere and/or worn on ppl we admire?
Waaaaaah! I hate them! The curse of being short waisted and short in general! I’m no fan of looking like a fireplug or streetvendor!
I love the Gucci one as long as I can take off/add the bags on the belt as I see fit. For me, the whole point of a “belt bag” is to pack light and keep the shoulders/arms/hands free!
I just got the Loewe Puzzle version and love it for a crossbody option!
Still not drinking the Kool-Aid.
I have to laugh..the Gucci Marmont reminds me of my duty belt when I was an EMT. Very handy when attending the injured, but not a comfortable or flattering fashion look.
Thank you for including a LeSportsac. It is such a sensible brand, completely collapsible, foldable, and machine-washable.
