New York Fashion Week has mercifully drawn to a close, and during that week, editors, buyers, bloggers and celebrities put on their most sartorially compelling outfits and popped by the shows to see what’s to come and be seen as well. One office that was definitely humming was that of the Elle.com staff.
Before NYFW commenced, we popped into their offices to see what some of our favorite web editors carry to work, including our friend Ruthie, whose bag we’ve peered into in the past. The ladies of Elle.com showed us their bags, their outfits and their offices in the stunning Hearst tower, and you won’t want to miss it.

So refreshing to see successful women in the fashion/marketing industry venture beyond carrying the “usual suspects” and over-saturated Chanels, Saint Laurents, Hermes, Prada etc. etc. Not the biggest fan of some of their bags, but that’s just a matter of personal taste. It’s still great to see the diversity of bags, especially from women who are at the forefront of the industry.
I was taken aback by the lack of Chanel, Dior, Hermes bags! It’s almost as if these fabulous women decided to collectively leave their high-end, exclusive bags at home the day of the photoshoot and throw a metaphoric slap in the face at all those NYFW bloggers, guests, front-row seaters who are almost always carrying a trendy bag purely for the sake of being “seen” with the “IT” bag…
As Fashionist1 also mentioned, we all know that these women can totally afford to carry the really, really pricey bags, but the fact that they don’t feel the need to flaunt their bags show just how confident/self-secure these women are.
Clearly, these women are putting the value of the bag in the right place – in their actual merits, not the name of the brand.
Very well said. I definitely agree with you. Many of these women are always carrying Saint Laurents or Chanel handbags. It’s really nice to see some of these women aren’t all about wearing the most famous and over-saturated bags. But I have to put out there that most of these women must have at least a Chanel or a Louis Vuitton. Overall they all have an unique taste, but in modern day 2014, you expect everyone to have their own taste in bags.

I love the diversity in their handbags, they seem partial to Coach 😛 ! I really appreciate some of the coach styles, unique and practical! The snake Coach tote is TDF!!! (and this is coming from someone who does not like snake). Lovely offices and good photography, good job!

It’s refreshing to see that they carry a variety of brands and styles; These are real women, unlike bloggers who make it look like it’s so easy to own Celine, Chanel, LV, etc.

I liked some of the outfits more than the bags! My favorite had to be the Ferragamo. Gorgeous. I’m just trying to figure out how Natalie goes all day with just that Bottega clutch.

Thank you for this fun and fabulous post!! I love how accessible and fresh all the staff looks. Refreshing to see they aren’t all carrying Chanel Boy bags and wearing crazy-expensive outfits.

I feel like a lot of my friends and other people I know too are all over spending thousands of dollars on a single bag. Myself included. The unwarranted price increases get so old(& it’s not like the quality or customer service increases with it!) It is really refreshing to see these successful women in the industry carrying some interesting, more reasonably-priced bags, instead of just some more boring Birkins or flaps.

Great posting!!!! What the industry insiders carry, is my favorite feature on Purse Forum!
I love the shape of the Tory Burch bag!!! It reminds me of a travel cosmetic/makeup case that you can actually carry outside of the bath! I love that!!!

So…10 women who are what one would consider experts in the world of fashion were featured in this piece. 20% of them were carrying a Coach bag that day! So much for Coach being déclassé, I think!

I so agree as well…not only is it relate-able but so refreshing.

I was surprised they carried more normal brands. I agree it’s refreshing.
