The luxury secondhand market continues to grow at a pace five times faster than the primary market, with the U.S. luxury resale market valued at $8.65 billion in 2024.
Luxury resale has had a massive boom in the last half-decade, in large part due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic drove demand in the primary market, driving up prices and thus increasing demand in the secondary market.
While the secondary market offers accessibility in terms of availability, it also provides a unique opportunity to snag a bag that might not otherwise be available within your budget. Plus, sellers can yield an excellent return on their investment, especially if they are selling in-demand styles.
Hot Bags, Cool Prices: What Everyone’s Buying (and Selling) Right Now
We spoke to our friends at FASHIONPHILE to see what the best-selling bags have been so far this year. This is interesting not only from a demand perspective but also from a selling perspective. FASHIONPHILE analyzed selling data from Q1 and Q2 of 2025 to bring us the top ten best-selling bags of the year’s first half.
The result? Secondhand shoppers just can’t get enough of the classics; we’re talking about Louis Vuitton and Chanel, specifically black caviar leathers. One surprise? It’s not just classic LV Monogram canvas that shoppers are eyeing and buying, but Damier Ebene canvas as well.

LV canvas is not my cup of tea but it really matters who is wearing the bag and with what. The girl in the overalls with the mini PS looks beyond cool. The woman with the well-worn Speedy looks great as well.
I concur. At train stations in Germany I observed many well-worn monogram canvas (and many newer ones too). It felt to be part of the commuter lifestyle. Especially this large bucket bag where the woman had a good-sized laptop and other docs. She looks effortlessly cool and that bag serves her well. That’s what bags (and every other possessions) are for.
I would never have guessed people buy these tacky monogram bags – might as well buy a well made coach bag
Remember that someone thinks you’re a class act and someone else thinks you’re a tacky mess. 🙂
I never imagined people on this blog would be so rude, but here you are.
I forgot how much I love a Speedy.
I remember being on plane and a women came on board with a Speedy 35, pretty full, open with a scarf stuffed in the opening, partially out. I couldn’t take my eyes off it. She looked so chic.
One thing that I extremely dislike about LV monogram bags is how the edges start to curl up.
