In fashion, sometimes the right color makes all the difference. I’ve held off on buying many a handbag because the color wasn’t just right; sure, the bag came in purple, but it was a blue-based purple, and I like it red-based. Or the bag was beautifully designed, but it only came in black or tan, and I just don’t see the fun in that. Or maybe I wanted the grey just a hair darker, or a hair lighter – it could be anything. Rarely does a brand get color as spot-on correct as Proenza Schouler does with Peacock Blue, which is new for Spring 2013.
With this shade (and its little sister, Light Peacock), Proenza’s reignited my lust for, among others, the Proenza Schouler PS11. The shade works particularly well with the structured, thick leather used for the bag and the PS11 Tote, although my coworker Hilary has her sights set on the smoother, slouchier PS1 in the same color. Neither of us would turn down a suede PS1 pouch in Light Peacock, and the color even makes me reconsider (momentarily) my lack of enthusiasm for the PS13. Check out all the bags below or shop directly via Proenza Schouler.
The shade of that first bag is just perfect! I think this shade looks great in leather, but that suede one just looks cheap.
I was taken aback by your negative comment about PS13 until I saw the photo showing the tote rather than the clutch. I promptly scooped up the clutch in grey at BG–unfortunately at full price. I intend to wear it separately and as a bag inside my bigger totes. Had to have it.
The clutch is great! I’d love to have one. I just don’t think it translates well into a satchel.
this bag is a beauty but I think that color is to “It” at the moment, have you read the article from the Man Repeller on It bags, I though it was awesome and very much agreed with her!!! I think this bag is a classic but in black, rust or green

I agree with the premise of the post in that it’s never worth the money just to buy something that’s on trend for the sake of it being on trend. The only reason to ever spend that much money is because you totally and completely love the piece and think you’ll love it after the “new” has worn off and your friends are no longer impressed. It takes some people a so-so It Bag or two before they learn that lesson, though.
I agree. I’ve never been into an “It” bag or seasonal color for those reasons alone. When I first saw the Givenchy Pandora bag last May in Barney’s, I was not familiar with it at all. I was just drawn to it, despite its lopsidedness. I s-o loved the orange (surprisingly orange is still around); however, for that kind of money (I got the large) I bought it in black (needless to say I have many other black bags). Still love it, though.
I actually gasped out loud when I first saw this color on the PS site. I’ve held off on buying a PS1 for a few years, but I think this color is absolutely perfection.
This is an absolute beauty…..
gorgeous!
