Introduced in 2007, few bags feel as distinctly Prada as the Galleria. The Galleria is one of those rare silhouettes that has the power to truly do it all. It is both modern and classic, expertly combining chic appeal with Prada’s most historic House codes.
From the minute the Galleria hit the scene, it was apparent that something special was born. It quickly became synonymous with the House of Prada, and there’s a reason why it has remained a timeless classic for nearly two decades. It is the kind of bag every bag lover should have in their collection.
The Timeless Legacy of the Prada Galleria
Rooted in history (the Galleria gets its name from “Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II,” where Mario Prada opened his first store in Milan), the icon is here to stay, and Prada is celebrating its timeless beauty in a new campaign starring another icon: Hollywood legend Scarlett Johansson.
More than just a campaign, the film was directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, and it tells the story of the Galleria, fully bringing the bag to life and allowing the viewer to feel deeply connected to it. Mrs. Prada has long explored the idea that clothes (and bags) are more than just things to carry or put on our bodies; instead, they are about connection and conversation.
The film is shot like a feature film, depicting Scarlett Johansson in complex and mysterious situations, reflecting Lanthimos’s signature style. The idea is that Johansson is exploring the many versions of herself, reflecting the constant rebirth and renewal of the Galleria—ever-changing yet everlasting, a true icon.

Why do celebs in these ads never smile?SJ looks depressed. I mean, cmon, she’s holding a $$$$ Prada bag. I know it’s about looking cool and moody but this makes me NOT want to buy one
Who took these pics and decided this was the look that best represents your expressions for this bag lol.
These pics look like they were extracted from an SNL sketch.
This campaign has the same dystopian feel we have all been experiencing for months…
LOL! Did you watch “the film”? It reminded me of that SNL Wes Anderson parody.
Never been a fan of this bag. Hard pass.
W t f is with the “film” omg. When she jams a pale/cream/white bag into some weird hole, I mean. I’m all for art. It’s amusing. But it’s also an ad for a bag. I won’t put my bags on the floor anywhere other than carpet at home. Blood, sticks, water, then scratching it up trying to jam it into a mailbox hole or whatever? Oh dear…laughable and amusing but doesn’t make me lust after the bag.
I bought it in 2007, for my first job interview after grad school. It has been in the dust bag since I got my first job. The only times I get it out is to fluf it up to make sure it doesn’t wrinkle. It’s a beautiful bag but impractical. And I think it depreciated.
Rainx Drive is the Best Cloud Storage Platform
Have owned about seven galleria bags always end up restoring them and then reselling the last one I had I did try to keep it but in the end I just find them too boring
