The Prada Pocket Bag Combines Creativity and Functionality

With classic House elements, this bag is distinctive and cool.

While we are all here because of our collective love for designer bags, there’s also a great necessity in this passion we share: we need a bag to carry items when we leave the house. Some items are essential, some make us feel good, some keep the kids distracted, but the inherent need for functionality does not take away from our want for style. And when a bag melds the two seamlessly, it is a winner in my book.

Prada is not new to the idea of multi-pocket functional bags, being one of the best premiere designer brands to offer bags that are very usable while remaining stylish and practical at the same time. The newest bag to join the Prada family is the Prada Pocket Bag, a spin on the utilitarian multi-pocket and pouch bags that have seen a great resurgence. The Prada Pocket Bag brings a sophisticated spin on technical-inspired details combining durable Re-Nylon and brushed leather. Prada Re-Nylon offers a sustainable take on Prada’s signature material, as it’s created from regenerated nylon yarn produced from recycled and purified plastic trash that has been collected in the ocean, fishing nets, and textile fiber waste. The main bag may seem compact, which it is, but usability is key here. The Re-Nylon body pairs well with the tonal leather flap top and you’ll find an open back pocket. When you open the bag via the logo-engraved side-release buckle (or there’s a magnetic snap closure which makes opening and closing more seamless), you’ll find two zippered pockets under the flap. These are small but functional, fitting lipstick, car keys, and small hand sanitizers.

The inside of the bag features Re-Nylon lining and there’s also an interior zippered pocket. The inside is spacious enough for your iPhone and a smaller wallet along with other items as well. The adjustable and removable 95cm logo-print woven Re-Nylon shoulder strap is light and gives this bag a relaxed feel. Along with the other pockets, there’s a removable Re-Nylon pouch that attaches to the shoulder strap. You can take this off and use it as a key pouch and there’s a metal tab to attach it to the body of the bag if you choose to remove the strap and carry the bag under your arm as a clutch. Overall dimensions are 12.5 cm H x 5.5 cm L x 23 cm W.

Like the Prada Pocket Bag, the clothing we photographed featured the same sense that pragmatism and creativity must be balanced. Re-Nylon dresses and Re-Nylon skirts can be paired with an Openwork Viscose Turtleneck Sweater. Shoes with a larger platform, yet deceptively light, work for casual to dressier wear. Each item works on its own, or can complete full looks. Pairing any of the new items with the Prada Pocket Bag allows for an easy wardrobe refresh and the bag is one that will work for seasons and years to come.

This is probably one of the only white bags I might use without being paranoid.

Justice

I must say… this bag looks cheap. The nylon strap in the center with the woven Prada name kinda ruins it for me.

KD

So who makes this bag? It just impossible to tell.

Justice

?

Ed

Right? Like Prada hasn’t ever been too subtle but damn, at least it used to be just the one triangle with name.

Lori

Ha!

Lyndon

Are we just going backwards now? This looked dated yesterday.

???

The bag is too utilitarian. Also, I would feel like a fool wearing a designer shirt and sweater with holes in it. The vibe I’m getting is that it takes a lot of money to look poor. ?

Am I the only one who doesn’t get luxury bags made of easily stainable materials? Nylon, tweed, etc. Does the stain-proofing spray really work?

Zeynep Ganz

These type of bags don’t seem very functional to me….

I love this bag. I remember when it came out a few years ago and almost bought one. I would get this one if I had not just bought the Rebecca Minkoff Jett Boxy. It has a similar utilitarian vibe.

In Kaitlin’s post about spring colours where this one was in gorgeous orange !!!! I posted photos of 15 years old (utilitarian) Prada and Miu Mius which are my most faithful travel companions, in nylon . I adore them because you can have all necessities in a small but very roomy high and secure cross-body. Love the leather version, I am the type which wears such bags. comment image comment image

Yes, they are good for travel, but you paid significantly less than $2250, right?

vesna

oooooh yes… I was looking at the orange leather one posted recently, a part of this new collection, for $2600, an laughed loudly almost to tears, mine were second hand not used at all by a person who thought would use them as they were considered cute for that time 15 years ago, but they were also too small for 15 years ago fashion…so I got each of them for about $120 – all new, she paid high enough for casual Prada / Miu Miu but very affordable as travel utilitarian bags, more secure than, say, Longchamp. I still carry them (when we could) for travels, very handy to have your essential document being safe with you at all times, clean easily…..but I would not pay this much for that purpose

Namwan

They look quite similar to these new ones!

Sarah

I love this bag! I’ve switched up from my typical soft leather bags to something I can wipe down easier and this is modern and usable, love it!

Jaime

$2250 for Nylon? I have an older Prada bag made of Nylon with metal hardware that I got for $400 years ago. I overpaid then. Leather gets the $2200+ price tag.

Guest

Completely agree! And the nylon looks puckered on the pockets.

I think it’s pretty cool to be honest. I don’t understand the negativity towards it. LV has the multi-pochette that’s pretty much the same thing, with even more logos on it and people love that. I think this is a cool gender neutral option too. I wouldn’t say it has staying power per se, but I feel like it’s something that you could use for a long time. The price tag is a little much though.

Maureen

I love it! I think it’s a beauty. I do wish it came in all leather though.
