So, first, some news: My last day in my decade-plus tenure at PurseBlog is two weeks from today, at which point I’ll be moving on to become a staff writer at The Atlantic. I’m very excited for this opportunity that has come my way rather suddenly, but I’m also incredibly sad to be leaving the PurseBlog family, which has come to feel like just that to me—a family.
I’ll write a longer note about my personal end in all of this when the time comes, but right now, we’ve got business to take care of. As you might expect, my departure means that it’s time for some new voices and new writers at PurseBlog, and because handbags are an area of specialized knowledge that not all that many writers have, we thought that some of those writers might be among our audience.
If you have writing or editing experience and want to write (or edit!) for us about handbags, whether it’s several times a week or just once in a while, we want to hear from you! To be considered, email me at amanda@purseblog.com and tell us about why you’d be a good fit for PurseBlog and what kinds of posts you’d want to write for us. Also, please include links to a couple clips!
We’d also be interested in bringing on a new full-timer, if we found the right candidate, so if you’d like to be considered for that opportunity, please include a résumé!
Congratulations on the new job Amanda, it’s well-deserved! We’ll miss you and your witty, insightful commentary very much.
Congratulations, Amanda! You’ll be missed here; your articles are always so entertaining and droll to read. Best of luck in your future adventures!
OMG Amanda! I am happy but sad, especially since you are like my favorite contributor & loved reading your stuff.
Fabulous news on your new job, Amand.! The Atlantic… what a coup! Best of luck in your new adventures. I’ve always loved your pieces here on PB and I just know you’re going to be a success. You’re a terrific writer with a unique voice.
super happy for you- and for me! Since I love The Atlantic and will look forward to following your career 🙂 Best wishes!
I’m going to miss your writing style, Amanda, but very excited for you!
Well, fortunately you still have two weeks to come to your senses. I mean, really ~ swap the glamour of handbags for the glare of journalism? And what’s this Atlantic? I don’t see a single luxury brand listed on their online menu. No Gucci, no Chanel… a Tod search results in Sarah Palin’s husband in Alaska! Good God, Amanda! Have you thought this thorough? You’ll miss us . . . . and, gosh, we’ll miss you too.
OUR SENTIMENTS EXACTLY!!! Hahahaha
Oh wow Amanda congratulations on your new job! We will miss reading your wonderful articles.
That’s such an amazing opportunity and so well deserved, congrats Amanda! Really enjoy your supply of bag insight. Looking forward to seeing more of your work to come.
Good luck, Amanda! See you in the comments section!! ( I know you’ll be there)
Congrats, Amanda!! I will be very sad to see you go, I’ve always enjoyed your writing style and the insight you’ve brought to a topic that might seem frivolous to some. The Atlantic is very lucky to have you and I look forward to visiting you there!
Good luck in your new role! 🙂
Oh no, you can’t go, Amanda! We love you! Oh well, I guess if you have to go somewhere, The Atlantic isn’t too bad! Haha!
Oh… no! As much as I fully respect your choice and so on, I’ll miss you greatly! You’re my favorite writer here. Your wit and funny articles keep me giggling everytime I get to read one plus we have the same skin condition and your recommendations are always awesome and work for me. I’ll will miss that, too!
I wish you all the best, but I’m sure I’ll miss you so so much!
You–and your writing flare–will be missed. So happy you’re going to The Atlantic; a prestigious outlet worthy of your talents. Congratulations!
this x1000
NOOOOO!!!! you will be sorely missed, especially your wit. All the best at The Atlantic.
I’ve been a fan of this site for years and as happy as I am for Amanda, I’m deeply saddened to see her go. I’m liking this to my best friend moving away while we’re in high school. Lol. I turn to this site for reviews, feel good stories and check-ins to see what’s going on in bag culture. This site has slowly became a favorite of mine as I can come here and not feel bag shamed (I don’t put up with it anyway). You’ve given us years of wonderful stories, memories and good advice! I know you’ll do amazing at The Atlantic! Thank you for everything! We love you!
Before Amanda leaves, I think that you all should post her 10 best blog posts. I know that it will be difficult, but there needs to be some type of tribute!
While this is a great idea, I feel like it would be an impossible task to condense her body of work to the ten best!
You and your honest and witty articles will be missed very much, Amanda.. All the best at The Atlantic!
