What does it mean to be a woman today?
Miuccia Prada studies that dialogue for Miu Miu Spring 2026, this time by looking at the work of women and their greater influence. “Work as an expression of effort. Work as a symbol of care and love. Work as a reflection of independence, a means of agency,” show notes for the collection read.
When it came to the design inspiration for the collection, Miuccia Prada chose the apron—a humble, universal symbol of work—a stark difference from the opulence and grandiose design visions of her peers.
“We in fashion always talk about glamour or rich people, but we have to recognize also that life is very difficult,” Mrs. Prada told Vogue Runway. When guests entered the show space, it was immediately apparent that this collection would provoke conversation and thought—the vast, industrial space was full of colorful tables as makeshift seating.
Reimagining Workwear Through Feminine Codes
Ready-to-wear played off the workwear theme, with heavier garments reflecting the more utilitarian function of an apron as a uniform, tied over a worker’s real-life clothes, juxtaposing a woman’s role at work and in the world.
More feminine dresses played with the idea of a woman’s working role within the home, filling many of us in the room with the nostalgia of watching our Nonna’s or Abuelita’s cooking Sunday dinner. Elsewhere, the idea of the apron was less literal and further developed into dresses of all kinds—floral poplins, taffetta, leather, and more.
As for the bags, many of them reflect the utilitarian functionality that opened the show—suede messengers and top handles are fitted with cargo pockets and zippers. Functional bowling bags are explored in a myriad of fabrics, from tumbled leather to feminine leather weaving.
