Late last week Louis Vuitton presented its Men’s Spring Summer 2020 show in Paris. Menswear creative director Virgil Abloh is now a year into his reign at Louis Vuitton, and each new collection is more anticipated than the next. The bags in this collection paid homage to the light and airy nature of all that comes with spring and summer in Paris. There were pastel colors, floral accents, and of course plenty of monogram. Notable bags included Abloh’s super popular soft trunk bag in a white embossed fabric monogram, and a stunning Keepall with painted florals.
This collection is wildly different from Men’s collections of the past, with emphasis being on the new and unique versus leather options or Vuitton’s iconic Damier print. View all of the bags from the collection below.

Though some of the bags are a bit much for me, the majority are fantastic. I love #17. So pretty.
Virgil Abloh has taken the LV men’s line to the next level. So. Much. Eye. Candy.
Number 4 is my favorite. I also adore numbers 8, 13, 17, 21, and 36.
Men’s bags? How many men would carry #28? Unfortunately, in this political climate my first impression of # 37 was that of a suicide bomber, but with a kite? Not a good 1st impression. Anyway, #17 is lovely, but would any man carry it?
Kind of Bizarro! I MIGHT carry some of these but my husband would not be caught dead holding any of these.
This, IMO is totally bizarre. I really don’t know any man who would carry a “bag” that’s not shaped like a backpack or a briefcase. Definitely not anything purple or white or flowered. I wonder who is going to be purchasing these? I can see my husband falling off of the couch laughing at this if I showed it to him.
i agree with your opinion, im surprised they have not fired this designer after the first menswear collection
That was way more than I needed to see of those. What’s wrong now
Love the garden one. The flower trunk taken to the next level!
More interesting than the women’s bags (albeit some are a bit strange)
2, 3, 7, 8, 21. my faves. Would buy these over many womens bags on the market these days…
I love the little sac plat esque bag!
i almost didnt recognize you due to the new pic LOL, i am not a fan of virgil – where would i wear this crap? can’t wear it to the office or weekend – maybe gym but i buy my gym wear from Target (champion) LOL
I am so incredibly disappointed with everything the luxury houses are doing as of late. They’re going on a really bad direction.
I couldnt agree more, id rather buy at a consignment store because I can find old stuff that’s well made and classic
these are so much fun! and much more original than the women’s bags
I like bags 1, 3 and 17. The flower bags are insane they would look so stupid and ridiculous walking down the street.
Although large in size, they are very feminine looking–don’t know any self-respecting man who’d carry any of them
All of VA’s designs, to me, appear unisex. I’d go for many of them in a heartbeat over the women’s vast disappointments.
Love the styling for the runway. My fav is 25, pleating is unique and it has a late 1800s feel and 17 pretty
1. Some of the comments on this thread are so gender normative… it’s 2019!!
2. I don’t like this collection at all. I’m a man. I’m a long-time LV collector. And I won’t be buying much until Virgil leaves. I think he’s talent-free.
Many of the comments reference that men wouldn’t wear the floral bags and or totes. You state that you are a man and you don’t like Virgil’s designs, but would you ever wear a floral bag by any designer?
Of course! Why should floral prints be only for women? That’s a narrow-minded and backward view of the world.
Ughhh…I’m jumping in here. No-one said that floral prints should “be only for women”, but instead women are posting that THEIR husbands and boyfriend’s would never wear them. There is a difference, but you always react in a defensive and demeaning manner. Your response exhibits the typical immaturity that you often display. BTW I’m curious if you have ever purchased or own a floral bag? If you are truthful I’m sure your answer is “no”. #growup/growapair
Ummmmm…I’m literally gonna copy/paste some super gender normative comments below to show you that your comment isn’t even right. You are the one who is being immature, demeaning, and rude. You should grow up and grow a pair.
“I really don’t know any man who would carry a “bag” that’s not shaped like a backpack or a briefcase.”
“Men’s bags? How many men would carry #28?”
“Although large in size, they are very feminine looking–don’t know any self-respecting man who’d carry any of them”
“They’re JOKING, right? Most of these bags are ultra feminine. Sure, there are a few men who’ll rock these looks and be happy with this genre, and that’s fine. But most guys wouldn’t touch these with a 10-foot pole. It’s more likely WOMEN would buy these flocked & flowery bags for themselves. So WHO is LV trying to kid??? I felt bad for some of the male models…. they looked like they were trying hard not to crack up laughing.”
Like I care about what you think. #Foff
No, I don’t have to “fuck off”. Again, you exhibit your typical immaturity and inability to answer a question without getting defensive.
I love that someone called you out with receipts. Genius. Now go back to your hole. ?
Really? I was thinking that he was extremely creative and lots of the bags were fabulous for anyone. To each his own.
i liked Kim Jones dior collections very much because they are wearable and luxurious – if you look at the clothes in the above pictures they all seem excessively big and then there are those bags that look like they have cut up Louis Vuitton Monogram towels lol
agree, i think virgil has no talent and his aesthetic is not for a working professional or weekend wear
Exactly! To each their own. I loved Kim Jones’ collections and I find VA speaks to a completely different audience (and I don’t belong to that audience).
I love everything. So glad he brought back the tuffetage design. It’s beautiful. I have never been this impressed and enamoured by mens collection. Abloh is a virtuoso. What a wonderful imagination and interpretation of the classic LV monogram!
I love his work. Lots of these styles are extreme ( they won’t ever be mass produced, I’m sure…) but it frees your thinking about how bags should look and who should wear them. I would buy so many myself. I’m crazy about them! The colors! The hardware! I don’t have any problem with men carrying bags to tote their belongings during the day. He is expanding the horizons of LV’s marketplace and it is genius.
I have been collecting LV since 1984 and this is a pile of garbage! LV has jumped the boat and lost it’s way with this ugly pile of junk! Not one bag out of the 37 pictured would I spend my money for. Guess I will purchase for Hermes from here on out.
LV these designers you are hiring look like they design for Walmart!

agree – useless designers useless collection
well………….. no. Just no.
Fantastic collection, very creative.
I love how young and refreshing this whole collection is. Particularly love the trend where a fashion item is not pigeonholed in terms of gender.
Beyond ridiculous gave my husband and I i great laugh ? as he said what man would carry those bags yikes.
I doubt that many men will buy these bags, and it’s “ok”. The majority of men don’t prefer these because they are not attractive, are too big and are overpriced.
Although I don’t care for this collection, plenty of men will carry these bags. It will be sold out pretty fast.
Chinese and Black will buy. And some reseller will buy too.
But there are so many of previous men’s collection bags are available online shop. Obviously no one keen to spend silly $$$$ on LV x VA. Would you spend $$$ on fucking PVC like Monogram Prism?
No, I would not spend my money on a Monogram Prism. 🙂
Interesting collection – and no, I don’t care about your opinions on what’s “gender normative” or not – get over yourselves. Being outrageous or opposite of what is typical (or natural) doesn’t make you cool – it makes you phony. So anyway…
As a proudly gay, yet “gender normative” man, these are my picks:
#1 – Very cool blue monogram with the black chain – Great color, clean and very modern!
#2 – Cream crocodile with the black chain – very cool spin on traditional style – I like the masculine shape.
#3 – Grey crocodile keepall – gorgeous and masculine.
#5 – Cream fabric/leather “puffy” monogram – Very chic – for those who like things CLEAN – just don’t sit it down anywhere!
#12 – Green trunk clutch – hot – just hot. Great for a gala.
#13 – Blue trunk clutch – very modern and interesting.
#17 – Black floral keepall – I LOVE IT. Most men actually probably wouldn’t love it, but I do. I also love gardening. It’s for the flower lovers of the world.
#22 – Green purse? I hate the design but LOVE the color.
#23 – Blue/Brown “3D” style monogram – VERY cool and modern – I’d rock that all day!
#29 – Green/Black soft trunk – BIG PIMPIN – that is so luxe and velvety rich – LOVE IT.
34 – Black/Tan “3D” style monogram – Gorgeous bag – borderline “femme” but still hot and juuuuust masculine enough for to pass as a men’s bag. Love it.
Overall Impression: The collection is definitely pandering to the “i’m not a boy or a girl” era we’re stuck in (rolls eyes) but as a fashion lover, I think it’s very interesting. Afterall, this stuff is haute couture (Extra showy for the runway) so most of this stuff would never be put into boutiques. However, I feel like most of the collection is “lost” – however, some of it has pulled the LV brand into the future successfully with rich and luxurious new colors and styles. It’s about time. I love traditional LV but let’s be honest, that get’s quite boring, quite fast. And “everybody and their mom” has those. Time for something new – but just don’t lose the true luxury in an effort to try to be “trendy”. I give this collection a “C+”.
