Love It or Leave It: Valentino’s Superhero Bags

Iconic superhero characters from the world’s most popular comic books seem to have seeped their way into almost every corner of pop culture over the past few years, and if movies, TV shows, ever-expanding Comic Cons weren’t enough for you, Valentino‘s superhero-themed totes will give you a decidedly luxurious way to cosplay for Resort 2016.

You can now pre-order a capsule collection of Valentino bags licensed by DC Comics, allowing the Italian brand to reimagine several superheroes’ familiar logos with a bit of a signature Valentino touch. For example, the Bat Signal is now more of a butterfly.

As with all things Valentino, though, the details come at a price. All of these bags (which, to be fair, are quite large and functional) retail for over $4,000, which strikes me as a bit high for the non-luxury inspiration. Superhero fans are as dedicated to their hobbies as anyone you’ll find, though, so these bags will likely find happy homes. For me, though, they’re a pass.

What about you? Does a superhero-inspired bag interest you as a concept, and do these interest you in particular? Check out the bags below, which are available for pre-order via Neiman Marcus.

leaving this one… I can buy a similar looking bag at target for $30 and keep the change.

Kagem

This seems more Moschino than Val.

Moschino will probably do something like this in their next collection.

Here is something extremely interesting that is worth to pay attention , a superb opportunity for work for those who want to utilise their free time to make some extra money using their computers… I have been working on this for last two and half years and I am earning 50-80 dollar/ hour … In the past week I have earned 13,245 dollars for almost 20 hours sitting ….

Any special kind of skills or qualification is not required for this, just normal typing and a reliable internet connection ….

Time limitations are not here to start work … You may work on this any time when you get some time ….

Check it out how I’ve been doing this….view WebsiteIink on my` profile` to know how I use to work on this`

These look like knock off designs– oh not of different bag brands, but super heroes. I don’t care for valentino, but for all the squawking I see over “inspired” bags (I.E. x brand is copying chanel!!!!) these make me laugh because this is all I can think of:

BabyDietrich

That’s exactly what my bf said (who LOVES comic books AND fashion) – that these look like knock-offs.

Lily

I smell a lawsuit in the near future, for Valentino.

Lily

Spiderman is Marvel, not DC.

Jacquie S

Actually it is owned, at the moment, by Sony for licensing purposes,

Y Ajayi

Leave! Look like not so well designed Anya bags

justa9url

Disappointed that they’re not an official collaboration…

Jacquie S

Amanda said it was licensed by DC. That is official collaboration.

callmecoco

Absolutely lovely, funny , luxury at the same time (great hand work). Why a brand as Valentino cannot explore some funny inspirations? . Those beautiful totes make me so happy and excited. I cannot resist at those kind of babes

The “Spiderman/heart” graphic in Slide 2 is fun in a lunchbox sort of way. But when it comes right down to it they’re too expensive, too trendy, and (assuming I could be talked into buying one, which is a stretch) I’d be bored with it in a week. No thanks… I’ll stick to classics.

BabyDietrich

Yeah at half the price I would consider it.

Sandy

They are fun…but I would not spend $4000.00 on them.

Sparky

I think #2 is fabulous. They really nailed the design but I’d never buy it. I’d buy a Fendi monster or bug because its based on an original Fendi idea – not ripped off from another source. Similarly, I wouldn’t buy one of the new kate spade Magnolia Bakery bags.

carefulincole

If it has to be superhero, why don’t make it in super girl/wonder woman/ bat girl style?

Mya Wilkes

LOL, Ouch!

Mya Wilkes

Leave it PLEASE!

lavinia

Defin. love it!

Katy ;P

reminds me a lot of Anya Hindmarch. They should make an Ironman one!

Denise

I like the idea but a butterfly?…A heart?

Rashida

terrible

Jerri R

Anya Hindmarch wannabe? But the prices oy vey!

Dylan Propst

Didn’t Stella McCartney do a superhero collection a few seasons ago?

MilaXX

Nope leave this sort of thing to Think Geek & Hot Topic. If I’m dropping cash on a designer bag I want a grown up looking bag.
