I used to spend a lot of time exploring my mom’s purses, finding my favorite items and putting some of my own in for her to carry. One of my favorite items I loved from both my mom’s and grandma’s purses was their lipstick cases. Although simple, I loved taking their lipstick out and figuring out what other small items of mine could fit inside. A googly eye, a gem, a rock from outside, my Barbie’s sunglasses and one of her rollerskates constantly made its way into their small cases.
Fast forward to today, where the new lipstick case on every fashion lover’s mind is from Louis Vuitton. The incredibly buzzed about, and already sold out, Louis Vuitton Lipstick Case gathered inspiration from delicate makeup cases from the 1920s. Louis Vuitton designed it as a mini cylinder that can be worn as a necklace (I couldn’t pull that off but I dig the idea of someone else doing so), a crossbody accessory (to really showcase that less is more), or adorned to a larger bag.
The outside cylinder is covered with classic monogram canvas with a small trunk lock closure. The gold metal chain is long enough to wear it multiple ways and the top of the case features an engraved LV Circle. Available both in the classic monogram colorway and the monogram reverse canvas with silver-colored hardware and chain, this mini item quickly became one of the most talked about Louis Vuitton pieces upon its release. Price is $1,390.
We wanted to see what else fit inside of the case, aside from the obvious lipstick. If you get crafty and think tiny, you can make this case work for you. Cash is a no-brainer, a little treat or two fits inside as well, and other small beauty items. Coins? Sure. A slim key? Yep. A handful of gummy bears? Yum and yes. The mini possibilities are endless but if you want to use the case as intended, a classic lipstick fits perfectly well too.

The previous article made me think if I don’t spend 4digits and above, I will only get a clutches that fits nothing. Now a lipstick case requires to spend $1390… I didn’t know that loving bag is the privilege to the riches.

LV Awww never intended for the poors. If you have to check your balance you can’t afford LV. Maybe stick to coach or something. Personally I think it’s cute and if I had so much money price didn’t matter I would do it.
I do check my bank balance, my hose income is $300,000 a year (before tax), after paying off tax and mortgage, I don’t think I have that money left to buy a tiny lipstick bag that cost over thousands dollar, even I do have that amout of money, I’d prefer to spend on some investment. And yes, Coach is worth the dollar I spend way more than these Luxury brand. OK, If I am not the customer LV cares, I get it. I won’t buy LV either.
I guess certain brands (Gucci, Hermès, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, etc.) think it’s better for long-term brand integrity to keep prices high. Market studies show a correlation between high sticker price and desirability. A lot of people may mock this lipstick case and its pricing… but deep down they wish they had the means to throw $1400 at a lipstick case because that would comfort them in the idea that they belong in this fantasy world of lux living. Anyways… it’s an unnecessary product that doesn’t address any real need, its price equals a mortgage payment for an average family… and yet it’s fabulous!
Ah, but just think Ping, this lipstick case is perfect. After you spend the $1390 on it, it’s the perfect size to hold all the money you have left. LOL!

I mean stuff like this isn’t for “regular people” or even just the “merely rich”. This is for people who have all the money in the would. Oprah, Bill gates that kind. It isn’t sold out because they made so many and everyone got one it’s sold out because they only made a handful assuming only a fraction of a fraction of their customers would be able to buy such an insane item. It always amazes me how much extra money people have. Like, money that has no other use than to buy let’s say a $1400 lipstick case. Then I think how bored those people probably are if they have to buy stuff like that to keep them entertained. And how there must be a whole team of experts at LV, making up stuff like that lipstick case and other crap to sell to the extremely bored and rich.
