About a year ago Louis Vuitton introduced a new camera style bag called the Saintogne Bag and it was an instant hit for the brand. The bag’s success is truly not that big of a surprise, as putting a fresh and modern Louis Vuitton take on classic bag structures has worked very well for the brand in the past. Not to mention, camera bags have been wildly popular the last few seasons, popping up amongst almost every contemporary and premier designer’s assortments.
For summer 2019 Louis Vuitton has introduced another camera bag to its lineup, and Damier Ebene fans will be very happy. Similar in shape, size and structure, the Louis Vuitton Santa Monica Bag now comes in Damier Ebene canvas with smooth cowhide leather in addition to monogram vernis, which was released for Spring 2019.
Loyal fans of Louis Vuitton will remember that the Santa Monica Bag used to exist as a clutch bag, and Vuitton’s website states that this bag is a new version of the compact, casual-chic Santa Monica bag. It’s comparable in size to the Saintogne bag, and with overall dimensions of 8.7 L x 5.9 H x 2.8 D, it’s a great size for everyday. Inside there is a slit pocket, and the bag can be hand carried via the top handle or worn cross body with the long strap. Purchase now via Louis Vuitton for $1,650.
The bag itself is cute. Simple, even basic, but in a good way and definitely on trend with current best sellers. The tag will make a lot of LV fans happy (why is everyone so obsessed with these? lol). However, the printed “LV” (in the style of painted trunks) is just too much… or maybe it’s perfect for logo-lovers.
Logos are conspicuous consumer junk. How about the tag and a solid color or color blocked leather bag so you could have your cake and a cute bag too? LV knows their buyer wants the branding so they cater to that. It’s the last thing I would spend my money on.
I sort of agree! When I first saw the bag I thought it was customizable with initials and this was just the example. But upon further investigation I realized I wrong!

Not a fan of this bag at all. The giant LV is hideous. The Damier Ebene print is enough to let people know it’s a Louis Vuitton bag. Also not a fan of the color strap and side of the bag. Doesn’t read timeless to me. I wish it was the typical dark brown leather that you see with a lot of DE bags.

UGH!! Looks like something from a junior high Mean Girls rerun…. ugly, tacky huge logo and horrid Barbie pink contrast. Camera bag styling has been around for decades and is useful, but no mature woman would be caught DEAD carrying that fugly logo & color combo.
