Introducing the Louis Vuitton Bella Bag

In beautiful perforated Mahina Leather

Arguably one of the most understated logo lines of its assortment, Louis Vuitton has recently updated its Mahina leather line to include a stylish, relaxed bucket bag. The storied French design House’s Mahina leather is crafted from soft calf leather with a perforated logo motif finish. Featuring the brand’s iconic LV initials and accompanying flowers in a perforated leather, the Mahina line allows Louis Vuitton’s iconic logo to remain understated as most of the designs in this line are monochromatic. That includes the brand’s latest addition to the line, the Bella bag.

The inclusion of the Bella bag in this collection turns a page in the House’s history, as this small, compact bucket bag is one of the most modern additions to this otherwise classic line. The supple calfskin leather on the Bella features a shrunken version of the trademark perforated monogram for the first time ever, which works well on this silhouette’s small size. This easy, relaxed shape is finished with a loose drawstring closure for an incredibly easy wear.

Chic, contemporary detailing makes the bag stand out, like a braided leather and chain handle, a round coin purse that sits attached to the side of the bag and a crossbody strap. The sophisticated leather and mixed metal stylistic details jazz up the otherwise simple shape, and the longer strap can also be removed, allowing for versatility with every wear. Inside the bag is lined in microfiber, and there doesn’t appear to be any interior pockets. The perfect mix of modern with a trendy edge, the Bella bag is perfect for everyday wear with overall dimensions of 7.5″ x 8.7″ x 5.5″. Currently this brand new bucket is available in 3 colors: Magnolia, which is a blush pink, as well as Black and a stone-grey hue called Galet. Retail is $3,450 via Louis Vuitton.

Very dainty, I love the galet version, they should do larger totes in this colour. Seems like it would be a great every day carryall.

KangKangKang

the black on black is really nice. the subtlety is appreciated

Sibel

WAY overpriced. I love the Mahina line but I just can’t bring myself to pay that much.

Chris1011

Love this style and the Galet color, but $3.5K for a tiny bucket bag??

Marina

This blog is becoming more and more irrelevant in a pandemic plagued politically distraught world enmeshed in inequality. 3.5k for a tiny bucket bag when millions are dying with no access to safe healthcare.

There are homeless people in this world – does that mean I can’t buy a new sofa? Your comment is silly.

Mari

Only “silly” if you are not on the receiving end of extreme poverty and lack health care; that point cannot be ignored because it’s real and it exists. However, the dichotomy is that people earn their money and can spend it as they chose.

This blog is good to take ones mind away from all the unfortunate circumstances happening in the world. Thank you for keeping this blog running and giving us some escape!

Not disparaging your comment, but this blog isn’t meant to be relevant current socio-economic-political events. Sure it’s influenced by it to some degree but that tag line is “shallow obsessing strongly encouraged”. We all know what we’re here for when we click.

That being said if you think that these luxury brands are increasingly out of touch, then yes, you’re right. Seems silly to spend $3K when there’s huge swaths of people who can’t afford food, but the rich clients that LV targets that didn’t care about the poor before probably still don’t now (not saying that all rich people are like that).

Karlie

You are both correct and make excellent points, IMO. The world is going to shit and bags are too expensive. However, I read this blog to distract me from everything. I feel that I am unable to make major substantial changes to alleviate the crisis we are all facing; but hopefully my vote will be substantial to implement change.

I like this bag, but it is way overpriced. It should be more in the $1500-$1700 range.

Aries

Agree! I have checked it out in-store. It’s pretty empty inside, does not have any interior details such as mini pocket or at least a fabric layer. It’s just like a back of a t-shirt. The back stitches are shown all. But the overall look is really beautiful.

Not a fan of perforations or this style

DanD

Super cute. I understand the price, its not canvas, its calf leather. Hermes calf leather is way more expensive.

Gail

Yes, but Hermes bags are sewn by hand and they source premium leather. Are LV bags sewn by hand? Are Chanel? Are Dior? No, but they all ask ridiculous prices for their bags.

TKS

Hermes bags are NOT sewn by hand. Only Birkins, Kellys and some parts of the Constance. All others are machine.

Gail

Yes, I should have clarified because these were the only Hermes bags I was referencing.

DanD

Umm all the factory videos I’ve seen of the LV factory in France show they sew a lot of their bags by hand. I mean maybe not every single one (and who cares if they use a sewing machine – you use a car, not a horse and buggy right?) but there is definitely a MUCH higher level of craftsmanship in their factories (than say most Italian brands which import Chinese workers… from Wuhan funny enough). They sew by hand the parts which need more stability and strength. Plus many LV staff members get trips to the factories to see how the bags are put together and they all talk about the beautiful process of the artisans. You are also paying for the artisans wages as well which isn’t cheap in France. Each bag takes days to construct, that’s a lot of wo/man hours and leather isn’t the easiest material to work with. And again, that’s why it doesn’t cost $10k, like Hermes.

Gail

Making a bag by hand vs. machine made takes a certain skill level that cannot be replicated by machine. Also, it’s extremely time consuming to make bags by hand vs. machine. That was my point. Also, your car vs. horse and buggy comment has no relevance although I know you feel that it does, but it doesn’t.

TKS

Hardly any LV bags are made in France anymore, maybe exotics, special orders. US/ Spain/ Italy and “elsewhere”. Their mass produced bags (where there are thousands avail like on the site) are all machine produced.

Celine

I was to the factory. And the factory is the one where they make special orders and mostly luggage and this indeed is finished by hand. Their bags are never sewn by hand, although they got great publicity if people think they do…

Justice

I like the bag but these folded leather corners are way too delicate. Nope!

Christine Wooh

People must remember that white not LV’s target and they LOVE Chinese money!!
They always spend money than white. Btw can’t wait to see US became second CHINA!! Yay.

Studious Person

Got one for my Christmas gift!

Laura Rush

Does yours stay closed or does it constantly loosen up and open?

Tracie

I recently purchased one and it will NOT stay closed. If you tighten the sides, within moments walking with purse on your shoulder or even putting on seat in your car, the sliding tabs on the side loosen all the way up. Has anyone found a way to combat this? I love the look of this bag but it’s worthless if bag will not stay closed.

Gail

Have you tried to knot one side? The salesperson told me to do that and just one one side to slide open and close. I’m debating buying this bag but I worry about exactly what is happening with yours. Thanks for sharing.
