One of my favorite things about spring weather is the transition from boots, booties and closed-toed shoes to flats, sandals and lightweight sneakers. This spring I’m anxious to add a few trends to my shoe-drobe. You all know I’m anxious for a new all white sneaker, and a new pair of white loafers is also high up on my list of spring wants. And while I’m still trying to decided if splurging on my first pair of designer shoes is worth it I figured that I better find some pretty good dupes for the pricey shoes I’m craving. I’ve wanted a pair of Saint Laurent sneakers for quite a while now, so I’d say that those are high up on my list, though the Veja’s are a pretty perfect pair too. I’ve been seeing nearly naked strappy sandals like the Aquazzura pair everywhere, and with a chunky block heel I would actually wear them out, unlike the mixed media PVC pumps from Gianvito Rossi. Those are just a pipe dream. Which trend are you anxious to try this spring?

From PVC to the perfect everyday sneaker, we've got the picks your wardrobe craves
I actually love all of your less expensive options better than the pricier ones.
I for one am having a really hard time finding sandals this season. I cannot wear flats. They are uncomfortable to me and hard to walk in. I always need at least a small heel or wedge. Everything this season seems to be a flat or a frumpy platform. I have looked at every website possible. I think last year’s sandals are going to have stick around.
I mean, why do you need new ones every new season? I guess all the celebrities and influencers and bloggers whatever make it seem like you need to throw out your wardrobe every season and buy new stuff, and behind that are the brands themselves pushing new “trends” and working hard to make sure you think you need to buy new things all the time.
Why is it not ok to wear the same pair of shoes as you did last year, or in fact, for many years? As long as they still work. I’m not above shoe shopping…or shopping in general! I also have no problem with articles like this. But fashion waste is such a big issue. If you aren’t finding new shoes that catch your eye this season absolutely no need to think you have to buy any.
*ends rant*
Wow, that was unnecessary. I too prefer to wear stuff for years, but it’s tacky to lecture someone who feels differently.
I wouldn’t if fashion waste is not a real issue. I lectured because it is a topic worth lecturing and taking a stand on. There are things worth talking about that are more than “personal preference”, and sustainability and the planet is to me one of them.
Also let me re-iterate what my stance is – which I did make clear in my original comment: if you see stuff you want then of course I think you should buy it. I am having issue with if you don’t even see anything you like but feel like you have to buy something.
You’re right. I guess I just get sick of looking at the same shoes as I wear them daily. I understand your point about fashion waste. Thanks for your thoughts.
You are gracious!
That’s such a great response and I actually agree with both of you! I wear my sandals year to year and they look battered and beat, but still functional. If I need a new pair for an event I will purchase (which is rare), but I always donate what I no longer use or need. This applies to household items, clothes, etc. since someone else can benefit and it protects the environment. It’s unconscionable to throw anything out that still has some life in it and I haven’t done so for 20+ years. (End of my rant. 🙂
Sam Edelman has some block heeled sandals, so does Free People—I saw a bunch on Shopbop when I was poking around! See here: https://bit.ly/2UOkr7o
The Gucci Brixton may not be the most attractive shoe, but it is extremely comfortable. After spending years wearing heels and wedges at my job it has taken a toll on my feet. For my comfort, I need to wear well made shoes that unfortunately come at a cost. I purchased them new for a lower price on a well known European online store.
