I approve of all of these. And for what it’s worth, my cats 100% know how to identify the most expensive and precious of handbags. They will target those for sitting on the moment they are left unattended.

Reasons #4 and #5 are all the reasons I need to obsess over bags. My husband doesn’t understand and never will, but my fellow Purse Forum girls always care and share my obsession. And, Amanda and Megs, you both keep my obsession fresh and up front.

hmm i disagree with the watches. I think watches are much less pretentious because even in gold and diamonds, they are small and on our wrists. Not large, hanging from our arms, and emblazoned with logos.

Numbers 4 and 7 are my favorite reasons! Ugh, “watch people” are too much. Ain’t nobody got time for that!
I know this list is meant to be light-hearted, but I actually think #7 is a problem. If we spend gobs of money on these bags, shouldn’t we care how and where they’re made, and of what materials? The fact that we don’t care is why luxury labels are getting away with faltering quality and outsourced production to underpaid workers in the third world.
I think there’s a wide gap between caring about quality and being inane about things that don’t actually make a difference in it, which is where I think watch people often go over the edge.
My husband finally agreed that we will never understand each others obsession with golf & all that entails & my absolute necessity to own yet another handbag. Does anyone else on this site just LOVE that smell of the leather? Love the new soft Ricky bag from Ralph Lauren. I purchased red & it brightens my day every time I use it.
All good reasons-and # 4 is my fav–don’t have go in to a dressing room, try it on and then have to get re-dressed–you can also stare at your bag at home and marvel how pretty it is. It’s also a conversation starter, strangers come up to you and say, “What a beautiful bag” thereby putting a smile on your day.

All of these reasons are perfectly justifiable! And yes (in answer to the comment below), to me the smell of ANY brand new, designer handbag is to die for. I remember purchasing my first Louis Vuitton (about 30 years ago). I went into the LV store many, many times before buying my bag. Just the smell of the store alone made me want to smell every single bag that I tried. And I always see others doing it, as well!
