Just in time for summer, Christie’s Online Handbag and Accessories Auction is currently underway and there are ample handbags not only for the collector but also for those looking to spruce up their summer wardrobe. One of the reasons I’ve always loved a great bag is it transforms an outfit easily and seamlessly. When it comes to truly unique handbags, look no further than Christie’s. Christie’s doesn’t offer just any bag – each auction is meticulously curated with a wide array of limited-edition, special, and one-of-a-kind handbags from the most coveted brands, sourced from a global audience of collectors.
If you’re interested in Hermès, you don’t want to miss this Christie’s Auction (or any Christie’s Auction for that matter). From classics to the extremely rare, there is an Hermès bag for everyone. My favorite bags of this lot include the handful of Mini Kelly 20 II bags – which are on my personal holy grail list at the moment. Ostrich Bleuet, Vert Cyprès Epsom, Rose Azalée Epsom, Magnolia Epsom, and Black Epsom round out the sough after Mini Kelly 20 II bags. There are countless blue hues that make up every color of the ocean, along with plenty of other neutrals that both add a bit of color while remaining wearable.
A common misconception is that every bag at auction sells at incredibly high price points.
I always want to note that while there are plenty of bags that are auctioned for record-breaking prices, there are also plenty that can be deals. Through an auction like this, you are guaranteed one of the most diverse and interesting collection of bags to not only look at but also to bid on. You could nab an Hermès Evelyn at a very competitive price (which is a truly wonderful everyday bag) and I always find Chanel Classic flaps to be one of the best bags to score a potential deal on.
The Christie’s Handbag and Accessories Auction is now live until June 14th, so you have plenty of time to discover the bags you most desire and track those lots. Below are some of my favorite items from the more rare pieces to the timeless classics.
Happy Bidding!
This is interesting, but do they also add buyer’s commission and tax to the final price?
After some poking around, I found “For all collecting categories except wine, the new buyer’s premium rate will be an amount equal to 25% of the hammer price of each lot up to and including £225,000/US$300,000” (the buyer’s premium drops after that, but I doubt any one lot would go for that much in this auction).
No idea about tax.
Thank you for taking your time to provide me with this information!
You’re welcome 🙂
So many gorgeous bags!
I loved this article! The bags are all unique and have a personality of their own!
