Recently, we introduced readers to a new service provided by eBay that will make shopping for pre-owned designer bags online a lot simpler and more trustworthy: eBay Authenticate. In order to bring you all the details of what using the service is actually like, we ordered two pre-owned bags from eBay to experience it ourselves. You can read all about that in detail, but suffice it to say: we were impressed. And now, two of you will have an opportunity to see first-hand just how impressive these bags are, too.
For our article, we ordered both a Gucci Dionysus Bag and a Chanel Sac Rabat, two super popular and widely sought-after bags that are now going on to new homes with one of you. All you have to do is sign up below before August 5th! International friends, our apologies—this giveaway is open to US residents only.
Check out and shop the full eBay Authenticate inventory over at eBay.com.
Hi – is this contest one entry per person?
Can we enter daily or just once? Great contest!!
One entry per person!
Yay, I just sent a bag to them to sell today! Very excited about this new program with eBay!!
Ah so glad to hear! Hope it goes well for you 🙂
Why is this limited to U.S. residents only? Doesn’t eBay care about its international buyers and sellers? This contest isn’t so great for all the PB followers outside the U.S. Other companies know how to arrange giveaways that include global participants — eBay should try to do the same.
We’d love to have international readers able to enter – but we host the giveaway along with the rules. International giveaways involve registering the giveaway in each country and becomes a legal and financial problem for us. When we’ve worked with bigger partners who host the rules themselves, we’ve been able to open it internationally – but just wanted to share why we can’t with each giveaway!
Megs did the give away end on the 27th? The site here doesn’t tell, the people keep commenting on the giveaway but the terms were published already on the 11th and indicate it ended on the 27th ? The giveaway page here doesn’t say it ended and people keep submitting….
We just extended the giveaway – sorry I didn’t update earlier to clarify!
I don’t remember the last time I saw an international giveaway from a US based business, so I didn’t even expect this one to be worldwide. But I still feel bitter every time it happens. No good deal ever applies to us.
I’ve participated in ones from global hotel chains based in the U.S. Maybe next time PB can have a giveaway with U.S. “friends” excluded!
it is the giveaway fom TPF. I’d be more interested who those “experts” are. Frankly I find the price difference quite interesting, for that difference you could pay 2 authentification services and get the paperwork.
Thank you for creating a giveaway that doesn’t involve having a social media account!
The best gift ever if someone win, there’s no way I can even afford to buy it…EBay is my best store, purchase so many stuff and it’s all cool and safe as well??
Would love to win amd share with my friends
Good luck everyone! 🙂
Great giveaway and service!
Thank you! 🙂
Squeeeeeeal !!!!
Hope all is on the up & up,see these things all the time, but never really see or hear from a true winner
It is – we always pick the winners and announce and send the items. The winners don’t always respond publicly, but it all happens!
gooooooooood luck@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD LUCK!!!
Great article and great new service, thanks for sharing. Hopefully they can start authenticating Chanel jewelry, I see a LOT of fakes on eBay. I stopped buying luxury designer goods on eBay because of counterfeits and took my business to the luxury consignment sites, like The RealReal, where I am also a consignor.
Therealreal ALSO has sold obvious fakes. I had to FIGHT with them and send several messages/emails to get them to stop relisting the fake Valentino rockstud sandals that were stamped a misspelled “Garavaini” on the leather soles!
Oh no, that’s terrible, I’m sorry sorry to hear that. That hasn’t happened to me, everything I’ve purchased from them has been authentic, as well as everything that I have consigned with them is authentic. I have the receipts and credit card debt to prove it 🙁
Good luck
My experience as a seller via eBay authenticate was not very positive, but great as a buyer because they lower prices quickly and methodically.
Thanks for writing your opinion, I had considered using the service to sell, but didn’t want to give up earnings since I had all the documents, etc. to prove authenticity
I am a Power Seller on eBay but still choose to consign used luxury goods given that “condition” is so subjective and I’ve had issues with buyers disagreeing with my assessments of an item’s condition. I also had someone buy a pair of brand new Tod’s loafers from me, wear them, claim they received used shoes & eBay sided with them (thankfully it wasn’t a bigger ticket item so not a huge monetary loss but still!). So, since that incident I consign everything with Luxury Garage Sale and while they do take 35%, it’s worth it to me for the lack of hassle & BS vs. selling directly.
My problem with eBay authenticate was that they screwed up major parts of the listings – they listed a Celine bag as a Gucci, said a black bag was brown, etc. Thankfully I caught all of the mistakes and got them fixed. When they sent my bags back to me (at my request once their prices got too low IMO) they threw them in a big box with no protection at all – ironically the dust bags were folded up inside instead of protecting the bags. One of the bags, a near perfect Sac de Jour, now has a big scuff mark on the front of it which I can only assume happened when they were shipped back to me, as I carefully packaged them for the outbound trip. Overall I just felt like they lack the expertise required to sell such items.
One of the bags I’d had them list, which they priced as low as $1200, I just sold for $2100 via my local consignment so I ended up making more regardless.
Such a fabulous giveaway! Good luck everyone. ??
Good look everyone!
Good luck to all of us
Goodluck and thank you in advance! Claiming it!??

I really hope I win!
🙂 What a great idea!
Thank you for organizing this for your readers!
Have a very HAPPY day 🙂
Yes, please!! I love the crystals on the Gucci bag. The eBay service sounds great as there’s always an element of incredulity when purchasing luxury online.
Hey I notice that a lot of people like myself just recently looked at this article and commented on it but when I clicked the terms and conditions the give away ended a few days ago? The terms were published on July 11th but this article came out 23rd and the giveaway ended 27th?
Need to update it – we are extending it!
Has a winner been announced?
