Your First Look at Fendi’s Spring 2020 Bags

The Baguette is going nowhere fast

Fendi is having a moment, and despite the loss of Karl Lagerfeld earlier this year, it seems there is no stopping this storied Italian design house. Over the last year Fendi’s popularity has sky-rocketed, and with the introduction of Fendi Mania, and the resurgence of the iconic Fendi Baguette Bag, the brand is once again one of the top luxury players. It seems that there is no stopping Fendi’s success, and for Spring 2020, Fendi plays on its current hits, introducing interesting takes on fan favorites such as the Baguette and the Peekaboo.

This collection featured an overwhelming number of novelty Baguette bags—there were beaded Baguettes, floral Baguettes and even woven raffia Baguettes. The house’s FF logo was featured throughout the collection as well, in both large and small ways. For Spring 2020, Fendi played with its monochromatic embossed FF logo print, which was featured on the Baguette Bag as well as a new handheld pouch, and a large top handle tote, all in what appeared to be a pink terry cloth fabric. Models clutched both small and large woven versions of the fan-favorite Peekaboo bag, and overall this collection felt so very summery. View all of the bags below.

My first reaction: is somebody at Fendi having a torrid affair with somebody at Bottega Veneta? Actually, I like some of the woven ones and some of the patterned ones — the patterns have a vaguely groovy Peter Max vibe. Not a fan of the fur.

Yes–Peter Max! The fur is awful, the woven bags are great, and what in the world would one carry in the bag in #34?

Mars

A house key? A stick of gum? A small snack? A couple of coins? The possibilities are endless. 🙂

At first, I didn’t like them – then I saw some very interesting bags. I kind of like some of them.

A lot of the collection has a sumptuous 60’s look about it. As always I could do with out the logo pieces but the collection looks gorgeous!

UNF. So much there to love. Some are a no go (fur and fringe are not my thing), but the pieces that are gorgeous? SO. GORGEOUS. I am loving all the florals and the woven peekaboos.

I like the woven Peek-a-Boos. They’re very cool. I also like bag #19. Yeah, the Fendi logo is like a billboard, but I like the color, handle, and leather.

I like the style of the clutches, but not the terry cloth material. If it gets dirty can it be thrown in the laundry? IDK, but maybe not. Otherwise, I like most of them with the exception of the tote with the giant “FENDI ROMA” logo. I’m not going to presumably pay thousands of dollars for a tote only to be a walking billboard for FENDI.

Some of these look remarkably cheap, like you could buy them at Forever 21, but there are a few that are truly inspired and cool.

Lori

They somehow manage to perfectly balance being classic and current. But that fur has got to go. I only see little animals being slaughtered. Overall excellent and would buy many of these.

Suzanne

I did a hard pause on #21, it’s sort of like a fabulous 60s briefcase. But I don’t really know where I’d wear it.

NO. 21 is the winner here.

Charlie

Is it just me or the men’s collection for S/S 20 was more interesting?

Cait

I feel like Fendi 2020 is Gucci 2017 and I am here for it.

Anyone know where you can purchase the woven baguette bag?
