Summer Style Meets Sustainability With the Fendi Basket Bag

Celebrate Earth Day with the latest from Fendi

Welcome to the part of spring that *actually* feels like spring. We’ve reached that time in the season where the sun is shinning, the trees have blossomed and the weather actually leads us to believe that it really, truly, is spring. It’s at this exact moment in the season that many of us begin to transition our dark, subdued winter wears for the latest warm weather must-haves like flowy floral dresses, denim cut-offs, open-toed shoes and spring’s best handbags to go along with it. Today, we’re taking a look at the latest from Fendi, which not only arrived just in time for real spring (yes, as opposed to fake spring), but also has hit the internet to perfectly coincide with Earth Day.

The Fendi Basket bag was first introduced on the runway at Fendi’s spring 2021 runway show, and immediately it caught our eye with its cool embossed logo and easy basket-like shape.

Described as a throwback to the best summerchildhood memories, the Fendi Basket bag was designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi as an ode to beach bags of the 80s. In all of its logo-embossed glory and bight, punchy colors, the Fendi Basket bag is made completely of sustainable materials. Yep, that’s right, the PVC used to create this bag is 100% recycled PVC, composed primarily of pre-consumer waste.

High quality plastics are derived from the production process making it possible to generate the recycled PVC which is used to create the ultimate in sustainable luxury, the Fendi Basket Bag. Available in two sizes — small ($690) and medium ($890), the Basket comes in an array of spring-ready colors like yellow, pink, light blue, white and orange. Featuring the FENDI Roma embossed stamp logo on its center, the bag has a top leather closure with 2 gold snaps and it can be carried securely by the top handles or worn with an added By You strap.

The perfect playful spring/summer carryall, the basket is ideal for toting around your beach necessities or carrying to a picnic in the park. Discover more and purchase now via Fendi.

does it come with an insert to prevent stuff from falling out/ cords from getting tangled in it? Or are we just supposed to buy more Fendi SLGs to fill it with?

Kate

Oh. No.

Kate

Unless it is timeless and useful, not even recycled PVC can make it sustainable. This looks like a gimmick to get some marketing credibility. Not impressed.
Let’s feature brands that genuinely care for sustainability on Earth day. Stella McCartney for a start?

Jaime

I had this bag in the 80’s to carry my Barbies. I could never and would never buy this type of bag for $700 or $800.

Sibel

You have GOT to be kidding me.

Tana

lol greenwashing much!

Justice

It’s totally greenwashing!

Yazi

You have got to be kidding. This can be found cheap anywhere. It’s insane to pay the price Fendi is asking for it.

FashionableLena

Shut the front door.

psny15

Oh my I think this would not even sell at a dollar store for a dollar

Lennie

I’m guessing the bag is $90 (very generous estimate) and the logo is $600 and $800 respectively. However, I can also pick up something similar at my local Targe’ for about $20?

Julie Porowski

Nobody wants to see the stuff you carry inside your handbag.

Lala

I love it! Am I the only one?

A.S.

I think it’s cute and fun but not for that price and I hate greenwashing.

If anyone’s familiar with the Melissa brand, they have a refraction bag back in 2012 and it looks about the same. Nope! Not spending my money on something so useless.
