Valextra offers pristine perfection for Fall 2011

It’s difficult to review a collection like Valextra Fall 2011. Perhaps because Valextra is only a leather goods company instead of a full design house, its products tend not to vary with the trends of brands who also produce ready-to-wear; instead, the Italian line produces season after season of austere yet feminine handbags and accessories using only the finest leathers and techniques. And I don’t say that lightly – many brands that command big bucks for their handbags aren’t using the finest of anything.

With Valextra, though, the proof is in the products. With no gimmicks or extraneous visual elements behind which to hide, the leather and stitching have to be first-rate beyond a shadow of a doubt for customers to pay the brand’s often steep prices. With most of these high-precision designs, though, having one in my closet would be worth every penny. They’re the kind of bags that you carry for the rest of your life.

These bags are so boring.

A little too classic and safe.
I have never seen Valextra in person. Who actually sells them? Our mall has a Saks, Neiman’s, and Nordstrom’s, and I have never seen them.

Lori

Barney’s sells them here in Los Angeles.

#6 is a winner.

And I think Amanda hit the nail on the head. Valextra is (and hopefully will never be) about trends or groundbreaking design. It is about craftsmanship and the best leather that could be found (that hasn’t been bought yet by Hermes). Period.

their quality are seriously second to none. not just women’s bags but those for men are just so fine too. i’ve had small accessories including a passport holder, a keyholder and a cardholder. the keyholder is in white in colour and i just realise that i’ve used it for couples year already yet the leather (AND THE TRIM) are still all fine! such a good investment!! My man receives lots of compliments from his mates, for his valextra accessories that i got him too 🙂

They remind me of origami- but they also seem as stiff as paper.

These are fabulous! I love it when PB covers brands that not everyone and that girl at the mall has heard of and wants. This is a great example of why some handbags really do cost so much. While others may see plainness, I really love the autstere, hard lines of these bags, which are actually quite modern.

Often times, we see people carrying bags because of the popularity of the brand and they don’t want to be left out. Or simply because they want to show off how rich they are. Valextra, however, is not for such group of people. Like TOD’S, Valextra is confident and it’s definitely bold enough to steer away from the current trend. Despite its minimalist design and stoic structure, I find them refreshing and kinda endearing. I can totally see modern, unpretentious women who are not afraid to be themselves, carry any of the bags pictured above. My personal favourite, without a doubt, is no. 8. Absolutely love the aubergine hue and that gorgeous shape just bowled me over 🙂

Great review Amanda.

People over at “New Valextra Handbags” yapped so much about how bad these bags are. I am glad i got the B-Cube for the wife (#3 above) in blue and she is loving it. Valextra is surely too rare in the States, even big malls here in CA don’t even carry its lines of goods. Great review.

I checked out Valextra at Barneys yesterday and I must say the Isis Shoulder Bag (#7) really called out to me. Glad to read that the materials the company uses are top-notch. I may have to visit my new friend again soon, and consider taking her home with me!
