The Best Bags of New York Fashion Week Spring 2014, Part 2

New York Fashion Week is so long, so packed with shows, that we felt it responsible to split our list of The Best Spring 2014 Runway Bags into two parts. Last week, Megs covered the best accessories that the first few days of shows had to offer, and today, I’m here to round out that list with my picks from the last few days. That includes shows from such American handbag luminaries as Proenza Schouler and Reed Krakoff, so you’re definitely going to want to check out what’s happening below.

Tory Burch’s collection was a lovely trip to her Southampton garden, complete with gardening totes that doubled as handbags.

Thom Browne’s contemplation of insanity was one of the week’s most inventive shows – all of his stately, perfectly made bags hung open from models’ limp arms.

At Proenza Schouler, the familiar PS1 hardware got a new life on the front of a trim metal evening bag.

We’ll never say no to mixed exotics like those on the runway at J. Mendel.

Think you’re over neon? Not if this yellow python duffel from Reed Krakoff has anything to say about it.

Marchesa is known for its over-embellished evening bags – just try to spot all the elements that make up this floral option.

We already love Ralph Lauren’s Ricky Bag, and the designer’s Spring 2014 boasted a plethora of miniaturized versions.

Marc Jacobs’ supremely odd (but totally beautiful) spring show featured dark, ornate should bags like this version, which features crocodile, calf hair and contrasting beading and embroidery.

This 3.1 Phillip Lim tote reminds us a little bit of Prada, and we mean that as a compliment.

Neutral, oversized, totally exotic – you had us at “hello,” Michael Kors.
