If you really hate the logo-heavy trends of recent seasons, I have some bad news for you: Based on the Spring 2019 collections of most of the biggest accessories brands that have debuted over the past few weeks, logos aren’t leaving stores soon. On the recent Paris runways, that felt especially true. Not only were Louis Vuitton’s lines as full of LVs and Cs as they usually are, but brands like Celine and Stella McCartney debuted new logo hardware or fabrics, and Chloé doubled down on the C-heavy designs it introduced for Resort 2019.
Although logos were the most dominant trend, they weren’t the only thing to be found in Spring 2019’s Parisian bags. There were some pretty, offbeat prints, as well as some clear influence from indie designers that have found success with sleek minimalism amid the traditional industry’s obsessive affair with maximalism. Check out our favorite bags from the week below.

Pretty sure I could crochet the Loewe #10 bag if anyone’s interested. Darnit. Wish my grandmothers were alive, I’d put them to work and take orders.
The black Valentino caught my eye. But it’s likely a real exotic leather. As in, if you have to ask, you can’t afford it.
Sigh.
Hilarious! What a great comment! I’m jealous 🙂
That’s funny. I was thinking the same thing. I’ve been obsessed with crocheting fabulous skirts for myself. Women actually stop me on the street to ask where I bought them. That’s why I refuse to pay for anything crochet. I can make it myself.
Will you take order? ?
Oooo, Oooo, Oooo!!! Love #3
Thank God…Valentino without the studs. Nice looking bag. I also love the silly Thom Browne lobster bag, very cute. From what I can see, I think I love the Givenchy bag too. Looks like it can be carried as a clutch or shoulder bag.
The white Givenchy clutch/shoulder bag thing is nice, and would look perfectly in place in Chloe’s lineup. Is that a good thing though? I’m not sure.
One of my least favorite things about creative directors bouncing from label to label every couple of years now is that the designs seem to reflect the “Hedi Slimane aesthetic” or the “Clare Waight Keller aesthetic” rather than the “Celine or Givenchy aesthetic”. Of course even the longest standing heritage houses will (and should) change and evolve their look over time. But it’s hard to convey “this is a hundred-year-old label with so much history and we make classic clothes and bags that are lasting investment pieces” while cycling through creative directors every few years. Sure, the shift between leaders is not always as dramatic as Slimane/Celine but the sheer pace of these changes feels like musical chairs and it cheapens the storied brands somewhat.
On the flip side, I guess if you really like the work of one particular designer, it’s kind of cool to follow their career throughout the various labels they work for. It seems like people are very interested in where Phoebe Philo ends up, whether it’s at another design house or her own label, so there’s something to be said for the cult following garnered by individuals too.
I feel the same way. Designers have to keep the design house heritage in mind and create pieces that reflect that brand—all while putting their own vision of it as well. That’s why I typically hate it when brand switch creative direction every couple of years because that brand then has a moment of identity crisis between transitions that takes more than just a few years to mend. I mean, I’m still mourning for Raff Simons for Dior til this day and feel that Maria hasn’t designed any “Dior-like” pieces at all with her current tenure.
Stella McCartney has had some handbag winners, sadly this one isn’t one of them.
I feel like it belongs hanging in the handbag section at ROSS.
Lowe and Altuzurra bags are way over rated and priced. Gimme a break with that crap.
Vuitton egg and mini travel bag are so cool…….. and Hermes pure minimalism is fantastic.
Finally a decent bag from Miu Miu and i love that Hermes in no. 8!
I don’t like the chain handles on the LV and Valentino bags. In the LV bags, it looks too flimsy for what those bags might weigh fully loaded. Fine for being carried empty on the catwalk, but in real life? Hmmm….and the Valentino chain looks like it would snag a loose-knit sweater or scarf. The Loewe bag is ridiculous. The Hermes bag itself is ok (fortunately, most public toilets in Europe don’t have that style of enclosure ;-D ) but for the price they’re going to be charging, it better come with a leather strap.
I adore the Louis Vuitton bag, and I’m not a fan of the brand. This one looks like a little suitcase which I think is really cute.
I think it’s really cute too and would look great to wear with work clothes if you work in an office setting ? I hope it’s not 5k though *fingers crossed ??*
I really like the version with reverse mono but need a crossbody strap. Concerned about $$ too.
The loewe bag is hideous!
After plastic bags, now plush toy for Chanel… Can’t wait to see the price of that flap bag…………..
Wow I’m not usually a fan of Balenciaga but wow.
I’m in shock that those were the best bags! I have no words
