JW Anderson Plays With Textures and Shapes for Its Spring 2020 Bags

Fringe, macrame and more...

JW Anderson first rose to popularity in the fashion world for his menswear designs. Eventually he expanded into RTW, and then LVMH purchased a stake in the company back in 2013. The brand was eventually able to expand into accessories as well, likely due to the backing of LVMH. As his profile expanded, so did his popularity, and eventually JW Anderson bags became a favorite of indie fashion lovers around the globe. Known for his modern, often sporty, and so very British aesthetic, JWA logo bags as well as the wildly popular Pierce Bag became a street style wardrobe staple.

For Spring 2020, JW Anderson presented his most risky collection yet, betting heavy on interesting textures such as fringe, macrame, and rattan. The JWA logo was at play in this collection as well, though the bags were not as logo heavy as in past collections. Collection standouts included a leather shoulder bag with fringe detailing on the side as well as a textured leather version of the Fall 2019 Midi Keyts Bag. Sorry to be rude – but 6 of the 23 images are of the same bag. Why? Just pick the most informative photo and post that.

Sara

Seriously! I cringed at the first photo and then saw it 5 more times?? You weren’t “rude” to point this out.

I adore JWA as a designer. I wish his bags had more staying power, but it’s better for me because it means I can get his bags on major sale at the end of the season, and I don’t buy looking to resell ?

Wendy

I can’t believe this collection isn’t a joke. Ridiculously long, white macrame fringe? Baseball caps? Four pouches sewed together to make a large, hideous bag? And the trademark JWA “fishing hook” design which is beyond ugly. With all of the beautiful bag options available this season this collection is not even a consideration.

JH

My first thought was: is this a joke when I saw these bags.

Vicky

No. Just no.

The cap is ok, although very weird. But that macrame is weirder. And he really need to stop with his fishhook logo. Can’t he design it other way?

kemilia

Awful. That multi-pouch thing looks like super cheap plastic.

Lori

OMG, my eyes! My eyes!

Micc Tan

I need that cap bag in my lonely life!!!

Maybe I do not understand fashion. But I really don’t understand why it’s fashionable (

Dave

Don’t forget JWA is the Loewe’s designer and he can make bags such as Puzzle or Gate, really masterpieces!!!

Dave

I have to say that the best in this Fashion show are the dresses. ??????
