Chadwick Bell Spring 2013: A Journey to Discovery

It was only last season that I attended my first Chadwick Bell show, and I felt like I found a little slice of heaven. While his shows are not absurdly packed – they’re shown in the intimate Studio setting at Lincoln Center – the entire vibe feels like you are going on a journey together. Perhaps coincidentally, Chadwick Bell Spring 2013 was all about a journey, or a “discovery;” for the lady who wears Chadwick Bell was looking to find herself.

It seems the lady that Chadwick had in mind while designing this collection is lonely, but working on a path to find strength, and that could be seen by the increasingly strong style and silhouette of each design. The overall theme focused on minimalism, but with each model that entered the runway a more defined style emerged. I loved the start with boxy tops, simple silhouettes and neutral colors, which transitioned to a more colorful palette with feminine dresses and attention paid to intricate detail. I found myself taking the journey with the Chadwick Bell girl, and my favorite part of the discovery was the end, as she found a sense of style that left her feeling confident and strong.
