The minute I heard Dior was introducing its line of Dior Ultra-Matte Handbags, I knew they’d be incredible staple pieces. When I saw them in person, that only solidified my feelings. Beautiful but I’m sure the color will scratch off the hardware. Then you’re left with an unwearable – and unsellable – bag.
Will the black really scratch off the hardware? If it does do you know if Dior will repair it? I’m so ready to purchase, but now IDK.
It’s minimal and wears where the handles are attached. The best way to avoid is by removing the strap. I’m going to go find a black mat marker or go to the local auto wrap place to get a mat paint. But honestly you won’t notice it. Nor will anyone else. My first scratch came when I attached a dior strap that was not the one it came with. Now I’m so so careful with it.

I imagine it would. The metal has to colored/painted, etc to make it black. All that metal clanking around as you use it…that finish can’t last forever. Discuss with the SAs in the store to be sure.

I hardly ever read anything negative about them, I don’t think I ever have? Which surprises me, as I cannot see what is so attractive about these bags? At least not for a “regular style” or “classic style” woman, which I assume most Dior-buyers are. Or is everyone suddenly a rocker/biker chic?
Doesn’t the all black style make any possible outfit look like one of a punk rocker? Nothing bad with that per se, I just didn’t know that style was so universally loved… 😛

Agreed, the aforementioned comment didn’t help so maybe I can provide insight. I like the bag, but I’m not the feminine or rocker type. I wear high end bags, whatever my attire, because it’s just a bag. This bag exudes elegance and beauty which makes it classic and timeless. I like everything about the design and quality of this bag, but I can also understand you questioning the appeal. Perhaps, it’s also very subjective. For instance, many times after I read a post, on this blog, the comment section surprises me since people gush over a bag that I think is hideous. I probably can’t really explain the appeal, if the bag doesn’t appeal to you, but that’s also “ok”. Everyone likes what they like and that makes for interesting conversations.

I was going to purchase the lady dior but two of my friends who purchased the bag had to take in for repair because it started chipping within a few weeks. One has gotten it back already and she says it looks cheaply done and wasn’t happy with it. The other one said her SA wasn’t too hopeful and told her upfront that it would likely happen again. So happy I didn’t get this.
I’ve been in love with this bag since last year, but they quickly sold out. Based on the concerns about the color chipping off of the hardware I contacted Dior, directly. I was informed that the hardware is treated and then dipped 3x into a specialized paint to prevent this issue. If chipping was historically an issue hopefully they’ve addressed these quality control concerns.
I have the lady dior ultra matte black and the quality is really bad.After a month of use the color started chipping off and where the shoulder strap hits in the handle the color has also chipped off.Oh,and they told me it’s normal coz the bad is supposed to be rugged(Total rubbish).
